Ban under-threes from watching television, says study

"Doctors and government health officials should set limits, as they do for alcohol, on the amount of time children spend watching screens – and under-threes should be kept away from the television altogether, according to a paper in an influential medical journal published on Tuesday.

A review of the evidence in the Archives Of Disease in Childhood says children's obsession with TV, computers and screen games is causing developmental damage as well as long-term physical harm...

AMD, Intel, NVIDIA: our silicon will power future "smart" TVs

"This year has seen two major developments in the TV market: 3D, and the Web. TV makers are betting that consumers will flock to stores this holiday season to upgrade their plain old 2D and Web-less panels with models that will let them bring the Internet into their living rooms without requiring them to add another box to their entertainment center.

Google TV is here

There's no one more excited about Google TV then I am. I love watching great TV shows and movies when I have some free time. And Google TV will make it that much more user friendly. Now I need a Google TV box or Google enabled TV. All hail Google TV!

Senate Turns Down TV Commercials

"WASHINGTON - Legislation to turn down the volume on those loud TV commercials that send couch potatoes diving for their remote controls looks like it'll soon become law. The Senate unanimously passed a bill late Wednesday to require television stations and cable companies to keep commercials at the same volume as the programs they interrupt. The House has passed similar legislation. Before it can become law, minor differences between the two versions have to be worked out when Congress returns to Washington after the Nov.

Cable TV Is On The Decline

Unfortunately for Cable TV when it comes to paying rent or watching TV it's a no brainer when so many people are out of work. Maybe in the Fall months their number will go back up when Football season starts again. Google Looks to Take Over Your TV

With set-top TV boxes connected to the internet, search engine providers like Google and Microsoft are looking to deploy targeted ads, much like targeted ads seen online when browsing. Back in 2007 Google signed a deal with DISH network to provide targeted ad services.

After a dispute about inventory, Google reportedly almost walked away from DISH, according to the Business Insider. Then Microsoft showed some interest.

Overnight Google began looking for ways to renew the contract and avoid getting outmaneuvered by its smaller rival.

Sony's OLED TVs on hold

Nobody, least of all Sony, ever said it would be easy to start cranking out OLED TVs. It doesn't help matters to be in a financial crunch.

So it should come as little surprise that according to a report in Tuesday's Wall Street Journal (subscriber access only), losses in Sony's TV division are driving the electronics giant to put a hold on future OLEDs TVs.
