San Jose, California - July 26, 2010 - Super Talent Technology, a leading manufacturer of Flash storage solutions and DRAM memory modules, today announced the new "UltraDrive MX SSD". The UltraDrive MX features a new dual-interface for both SATA II and mini-USB connections. The new dual-interface enables this SSD to offer a new level of flexibility and consumer convenience by enabling the customer to use this drive as either an internal SSD or an external SSD.
" It wasn't that long ago that solid state drives (SSDs) were DRAM-based and cost a fortune. Then the proliferation of mobile devices requiring shock and vibration profiles that exceeded hard drives created a huge market for flash. Prices dropped, and with more money available for R&D, the density increased dramatically.
With 40, 80 and 160GB models
Corsair has expanded its Force series of solid state drives based on the Sandforce SF-1200 controller with three new models. All three new models are quite similar to the previously released Force series SSDs except for their lower capacity.
The new SSDs feature same standard 2.5-inch form factor, SATA 3.0Gbps interface, noted SF-1200 controller paired up with MLC NAND flash chips, and TRIM support. All three will feature maximum read and write speeds of up to 285MB/s and 275MB/s with 50,000 IOPS on 4K random write IOMeter test.
"Value comparisons have become a bit of a tradition here at TR. We rolled out our first CPU value article way back in 2007 and followed up with a second look a year later. A quantitative assessment of the value proposition has since become an integral part of our CPU reviews, and we've even considered the value of graphics cards. What can I say? We loves us some scatter plots.
The PCI-Express SSD
Although it was listed for quite a while, OCZ has officially rolled out its high-performance and "affordable" PCI-Express based solid state drive, the RevoDrive. The RevoDrive is based on two Sandforce controllers working in RAID and paired up with MLC NAND flash chips.
