SOPA

The Behind-the-Scenes Campaign To Bring SOPA To Canada

"SOPA may be dead (for now) in the U.S., but lobby groups are likely to intensify their efforts to export SOPA-like rules to other countries. With the Canadian DMCA back on the legislative agenda at the end of the month, Canada will be a prime target for SOPA style rules.

Google End Piracy, Not Liberty

"Two bills before Congress, known as the Protect IP Act (PIPA) in the Senate and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House, would censor the Web and impose harmful regulations on American business. Millions of Internet users and entrepreneurs already oppose SOPA and PIPA. The Senate will begin voting on January 24th. Please let them know how you feel. Sign this petition urging Congress to vote NO on PIPA and SOPA before it is too late."

SOPA creator vows to fight on

"The man behind the controversial Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) has revealed that he will continue to fight against illegal file-sharing, regardless of growing criticism of the proposed laws.

Lamar Smith, a Republican member of the US House of Representatives, is the author of the Act, which calls for tough new measures to tackle online piracy, such as forcing ISPs to block access to websites and requiring firms like PayPal to stop taking payments for allegedly infringing websites.
