MSI rolls out its new Fuzion Hydra motherboards

The P55A and 870A

MSI has officially rolled out its newest motherboards equipped with Lucid's Hydra 200 chip, the clever chip that allows graphics card mixing for some SLI/Crossfire hybrid action. The two new motherboard are based on Intel's P55 and AMD's 870A chipsets and are first motherboards with Lucid's Hydra chip that pretty much affordable.

BIOS will be dead in three years

It's the one major part of the PC that's still reminiscent of the PC's primordial, text-based beginnings, but the familiarly-clunky BIOS could soon be on its deathbed, according to MSI. The motherboard maker says it's now making a big shift towards point and click UEFI systems, and it's all going to kick off at the end of this year.

MSI prepares more Hydra motherboards

A big part of MSI's pre-Computex presentation was about upcoming motherboards that will be equipped with Lucid's Hydra chip and the new driver that MSI and Lucid are working quite hard to launch. MSI is preparing a total of three new SKU motherboards based on Intel's P55 chipset and AMD's 870 one.

MSI will be a part of 3DMark 11

DirectX 11

It looks like MSI will be one of the names that we will see in FutureMark's 3DMark 11. According to what MSI had to show at its pre-Computex event, MSI's logo will be present in at least one part of the 3DMark 11 benchmark.

In addition, MSI also pretty much confirmed that the new Futuremark 3DMark will be all about DirectX 11. MSI was also keen to point out that the new 3DMark 11 will be bundled with MSI hardware, most likely graphics cards, once it appears on the market.
