Danger Den RBX/MAZE4 Water Cooling Kit (Part 2)
"Water cooling isn’t for everyone, but for those who do indulge in it, the benefits can be tremendous. I have had some previous water cooling experience with both processors and video cards, but at the time I last water cooled, I was on a strict budget, so for me the DD-TDX series CPU block and a Maze 4 GPU block was the way to go. Times have changed since cooling my 7600GTs or my HD 3870 and components got hotter, while the technology behind block design has gotten more efficient.
Specialists with water-cooling, Danger Den is ready with its first offering for NVIDIA's GeForce 400 series. The block provides full-coverage to the obverse side of the PCB, cooling all critical areas such as the GPU, the memory chips, and the VRM area. Designed for the GeForce GTX 480, it is expected to come in three variants based on materials: 1. all-copper (pictured below), 2. nickel top and copper base, and 3. nickel-top and nickel-plated copper base. The top of the block will have mirror-finish. There is no word on an acrylic-top variant.
100% for Charity - Eleven of the computer industry's finest companies - including NVIDIA, ASUS, Crucial, Danger Den, Intel, Performance-Pcs.com, SilverStone, Smooth Creations, TigerDirect, Western Digital, and Outoftheboxmods.com, donated their products and services so that we could create one of the world's fastest and most unique computers - and then auction that complete system on eBay and donate 100% of the auction price to charity.
Up to 30°C lower temperatures. Denger Den has announced that its Radeon HD 5870 waterblock is ready and should be available in next few days.
It uses a pure copper 110 base, High Flow design and comes with a smoked acrylic cover. The waterblock doesn't cover the Crossfire connectors and thus its Crossfire compatible and certified.
The company states that the new HD 5870 waterblock should lower the temperature by up to 30 degrees Celsius. Of course, it solely depends on the rest of the water cooling setup, but it's nice to know what the waterblock itself is capable of doing.
