Nexus 80 Plus Power Supplies rated by 3dGameMan.com

Video Review #819 Summary

Manufacturer info: More info

The Nexus 80 Plus Power Supplies are excellent for a Home Theatre PC setup or in any environment where a quiet power supply is required. Due to wattage limitations, they are really not intended for a hardcore gaming rig though. All of these power supplies are identical on the outside with a steel housing which is painted black. There's one quiet 120mm fan and the fan grill is recessed which ensures it will fit in any ATX case. These power supplies also have lots of leads, most of these leads are modular, but a few are hard wired into the power supply and can't be removed.

The NZXT Hush Case is a great overall product and it's affordable. When NZXT built this case from the ground up they had a couple of things in mind. The first was to build a quiet case and also a case that provides excellent air circulation. With sound dampening material inside the case on the side panels, bottom, top and front, it's quiet. They include two 120mm fans which provide great air circulation. There are lots of drives bays and it has a stylish appearance. Generally, cases with a power supply are intended for the budget market. I believe Antec had this in mind with the Antec Sonata III Case. This product is mostly steel with a stylish plastic front bezel. There are 3x5.25", 2x3.5" (ext), and 4x3.5" (int) drive bays. Conveniently located at the front are 2 USB2 ports, eSATA port, a microphone jack and headphone jack. There is one included Antec Tricoool 120mm fan at the back and an optional 120mm fan can be installed at the front. Overall, this is a great case and they include an excellent high efficiency 500W power supply.

When I first saw the Thermaltake BachVx Case I thought Home Theatre PC, because of its piano-black paint finish and brushed aluminum silver front. This case would look excellent next to audio/video gear. There are plenty of drive bays for a mid-tower case, tool-free design and excellent ventilation. I really like the fact they have a large 140mm intake fan at the front of the case. There are even two USB ports, a mic and headphone jack, as well as a eSATA port at the top of the case. Manufacturer info: More info

The Zalman 600W Heatpipe Power Supply is really not intended for the super hardcore gamer because of the low wattage, but in most cases this power supply will be fine. This power supply is really best suited in a Home Theatre PC because it's ultra quiet, even under maximum load. This power supply looks great, has a recessed quiet 120mm fan, blue LEDs on the inside, heatpipe and modular sleeved leads. Cooler Master Aquagate S1 Water Cooling System rated by 3dGameMan.com

Manufacturer info: More info

Many people are intimated by water cooling because they don't want liquid spilling all over their hardware components. This is a concern, especially if you are piecing together a water cooling system yourself. If you chose to do that, you have to be 100% sure that it's not going to leak. This is not so much of a concern with the Cooler Master Aquagate S1 Water Cooling System because everything is pre-connected. This kit does perform reasonable well, it's affordable and installation is extremely simple. The only pitfall to this kit is the small pump which makes an annoying loud buzzing sound.

Manufacturer info: More info

The Thermaltake V9 Black Edition Case is the top of the line in the V9 series. It comes with two massive 230mm fans and two 120mm fans which provide excellent air circulation. It has great looks and is all black. There are plenty of drive bays considering this is a mid-tower case. They include removable dust filters on all intake fans. It even comes with a tooless design for installing drives in the drive bays and cards in the expansion slots. Bang for the buck, this case rocks! Although it's steel and plastic, not aluminum and the motherboard tray isn't removable.

Zalman Z-Machine GT1000 Case rated by 3dGameMan.com

Video Review #854 Summary

Manufacturer info: More info

If you're in the market for a very well constructed, thick aluminum mid-tower case, than the Zalman Z-Machine GT1000 Case is for you. With four external 5.25" drive bays, one external 3.5" drive bay and 6 internal drive bays, there lots of places to install drives. Although the front HDD cage which houses up to four HDDs does hinder air circulation. Speaking of air circulation, there are two 92mm fans at the front of the case and one 120mm fan at the back of the case. Since it is a mid-tower case there isn't a lot of room to work, but the motherboard tray is removable.

Manufacturer info: More info

The SOYO DYLM24D6 24" LCD Monitor is a no-frills display that has excellent color, brightness, contrast and sharp text quality in an affordable package. This display is lacking many of the connections you would find in higher priced monitors though. There are no HDMI, S-Video, Component video connections, or USB ports, but it does have an analog VGA and DVI connection. If you are on a budget and need an excellent display for your computer, I would strongly recommend you check it out. Watch the video to find out more and check out the bloopers at the end.
