The BitFenix Hydra Pro Fan Controller is a basic fan controller in comparison to the Recon Fan Controller, but it still rocks. Both have the ability of controlling up to 5 fans, 30W per channel, but the Recon has a 4.7" touchscreen display and comes with 5 thermal probes. If you require a simple, but rock solid fan controller the Hydra Pro would fit the bill, however, if you're looking for a sophisticated fan controller, the Recon the way to go.
Why are there two USB connectors? Does both of them have to be connected?
Alight, I have been considering getting my first fan controller for a personal build and the Recon looks to be a good buy, since it works with PWN fans. Now, I have two questions for anyone to answer. Does it have a brightness setting? Does it work well with non BitFenix fans (such as Cougar or Antec)? And is it best to place the sensor near the fan or on an actual piece of hardware (cite examples please)?
Thanks, I appreciate any input and definitely appreciate the unboxing and review.
Thanks for the review!
With the Recon, while you mention that one can set alarm temps, does this also trigger the fans to increase fan speed to cool back down? If so, say it is set at 40 and then temp hits 41 . . . would the fan then race to cool back to 40 and then hit 41 again and then cool back to 40 . . . and so on and so on?
Thank you!
Can the temps sensor be removed? i think its have glue on it. i would replace one with a bitspower temps sensor for watercooling, but i don't want to break somthing.
I really like the way the one with the screen looks. Would look nice in my rig.
how many fans can i have per channel?
I too would of liked to see the wires on these unit sleeve or made all black. Other wise great review. I think they are only a great product.
the amount of price for these unit they should of made every wire or sleeve everything black.
I confirmed this with BitFenix, the Recon is actually 10W/channel, not 30W.
Rodney what processor do you have ?
Rodney why my computer sometimes when i turn it on or i restart my windows the screen remain black ? i don't have viruses i installed windows recently.
My Q&A should help: http://www.3dgameman.com/q-and-a/446/screen-goes-black-when-gaming
rodney is Eset Smart Security a good antivirus?
Never heard of it, so can't say for sure. Again, I use BullGuard, but have used BitDefender and Kaspersy in the the past.
It looks awesome the controller with the touch screen, definitely going to buy one of these for my computer build in the future .... shame there is no pricing info though.
Just FYI, 30 watts per channel is a misprint on the box ( http://www.bitfenix.com/global/en/forums/3,tech-talk/736,recon-max-wattschannel-confusion/ ), maybe you should put an annotation on the video to let people know?
Thanks for letting me know, I'll annotate that on the video. I've emailed BitFenix about this to be 100% as well.
Rodney what antivirus do you have?
I currently have www.BullGuard.com installed, but I'd also recommend www.BitDefender.com and www.Kaspersky.com
Just a couple of errors to point out: There is an error when trying to play the video on the site. "This video is a duplicate of a previously uploaded video."
Additionally, when viewing the video review on YouTube, at 7:36 you rate the product KICKASS and at the end you rate it again 100% KICKASS.
I fixed the link to the duplicate video. Thx for spotting.
One product (Hydra Pro)is KICAKSS and the other is 100% KA (Recon), so thus two rating in the video.
Doh! Guess I wasn't paying attention enough :P
i formatted my hard disk again,i reinstalled windows i installed all windows updates i updated all my plugins and Mozilla Firefox...finally works!!!
Excellent. FF rox :)
If i would have the money i would buy it but i prefer making my own homemade fan controller.
