The Cooler Master Silent Pro Hybrid 1050W Power Supply is unique. It has a fanless mode, comes with a single +12V rail and it's 100% modular. It also has a fan controller to control the power supplies fan and system fan(s). It performs well and the overall build quality and styling is excellent.
Im interested in this psu to replace my ageing 550w non modular psu. Does anyone know if you MUST install the fan controller to use the psu? In other words can the psu be used without the fan controller or does the psu have to be used with the fan controller in order to operate properly/normally?
Just wondering if anyone knows how good the fan controller is? Could use it to power 3 3000RPM scythe fans?
Where can I buy this PSU? I am not able to find it anywhere? Thanks for the review.
They ditched the Gold theme going on with the Silent Pro Gold, trying to trick you thinking this is a Platinum certified unit at first glance (not that the difference is large enough to make a difference). Anyway this PSU certainly looks better than just about every other one out there. It isn't the best performing PSU in that wattage range, but still good.
Don't the flat cables block airflow? I'm surprised to see the more and more now. I would think the wrapped round cables would be better.
They are wider, but also thinner. As long as you have a case with good cable management it won't matter. I prefer flat cables myself. Easier to route/bend.
I agree with this. At first I thought the same thing, but realized that if I could position the cables correctly with the airflow, three flat cables would be the width of one round cable. Really good if you are stacking cables in one particular location.
Basically an oversized SATA cable, lol.
That is an awesome PSU. Perhaps Corsair will get some competition. ;)
Corsair has always had competition, and they're extremely overrated.
You're entitled to your opinion, Sir.
Do you get tired of saying the same thing in every PSU review?
I would have gotten the 850W version if it was out last year when I got an 850W Silent Pro PSU.
No, I love repeating myself all the time ;) lol
its clear this is a good psu. For poor foks like me. I will never see this sadly. Only on reviews.
Meat and Potatoes :)
This is a super PSU. Nice features and a fan controller. Wauw. Perfect review Rodney.
