Review category: Video Cards
Manufacturer info: More info
The HIS HD 6970 Turbo 2GB GDDR5 Video Card is as hardcore as it gets for a single GPU. Fact is, it's busting with features and performance but still at a price most gamers would be able to stomach. This is one product that will top your expectations.

zomg i have been waiting fors this i need itt
Looking at the competition, the new 560 has been beating the crap out of this thing. Especially in tessellation testing. Oh and don't forget that ATI/AMD has been doing piss poor job of making drivers as of late. So many complaints on so many forums about the 10.11 catalyst. There is a reason nVida has around 70% of the market, according the the Steam survey. I'll stick with my new MSI 560 at over 1Ghz OC. Till the 600's come out in a year or so. I used to be an ATI fanboy. But not any more. At least not till they get their drivers consistently working right.
You forgot to mentioned about the flashing BIOS!
I would like to see a custom design cooler instead.
GTX 560 Titanium in 2-Way SLI would outperform HD 6970!
GTX 580 still takes the crown of this miraculous performance!
6970 have bigger average fps rate then gtx580 :))
GTX 580 should be 100% Kickass Product!
wow amazing 9ºc less at full speed that's rly nice. And it performs rly nice, the downside it's the power consumption 250w it's a lot.
just one question, can you buy me a couple? ;)
Rodney, you really need to enable comments again on your youtube videos. Its a major hassle to change sites, remember my account name out of the millions I use, and finally post a comment and not be able to be notified of any responses to my comment.
a major hassle, enable comments again.
I'm sure he will get right on that to make you happy.
100% fan speed is like a jet lol, lets hope it will never need to go that fast
I was hoping for a good old special episode, since it's the 1200th review. Like the ones you did for #1000 or #1100.
Yea, I'm afraid I didn't have the time to pull together a special edition 3dGameMan video this time around. And to be honest, I'm not sure they are necessary anymore, as I've done so many videos, with no end in sight ;)
Hell, it's about time.
No idea what you mean. HIS only released the HD 6950 & 6970 TURBO versions on Jan. 29, 2011, the same day I released this video review. I'm not sure I can be any faster then that.
I was referring to the 69xx series in general.
(It was a Starcraft joke)
They are spoiled by those websites that review the beta samples. I never did understand why anyone would waste their time on reviewing unfinished products other than to have that "I'm First" web traffic.
Whatever floats their boat I guess... sailing on.
I don't usually comment if I'm forced to go to your website however I'd just like to say...
This video format was excellent! I really like the Unboxing + Review in the same video format. The review... as usual was perfect too.
Thanks!
I appreciate the compliment and thx for stopping by :) More YouTubers need head over here and leave comments. I mean it's only a click away and if you like 3dGameMan content, do it to be a part of the community. Remember, if it wasn't for this site, I'd never would have started doing what I do ;)
There is a typo at 11:39. "6790"
Thx for spotting this. I'll fix and upload again.
I should have spotted that, but to be honest I skipped past some parts.
Is there (*going to be) a dual GPU 6k card?
Yes, HD 6990 Video Card and I hope to get one for review.
6990
Nice video review as always.
Two little ideas along the way.
1) You could include a "skip unboxing" button at the beginning. If you create a link to a YouTube video it should be very easy to do so. If it does not add that information you can add "#t=XXhYYmZZs" at the end of the video to jump to the section where the review starts so that you don't have to search for it. For this video it would be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAd3xWDh2ys#t=00h04m12s (or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAd3xWDh2ys#t=4m12s sometimes the first link does not work for whatever reason)
2) The benchmarks at the end are let's say not the best. Yes, it's an old game but Crysis is still one of the games which require the most hardware performance. Far Cry 2: OK but not that performance gathering. Heaven Benchmark, 3DMark 11 & Vantage: Good Idea. However, Metro 2033 could be included in the benchmark since it's towards it's tesselation capabilities the new Crysis. And AMD pointed out that the tesselation capabilities (or DX11 in general) will be better. So that statement could be put on the testbench.
Could you please do a review, or request to get a gtx 580?
Thanks a lot
I've requested one from Palit, but no guarantee.
I can do it for you.
580 is powerful, hungry, hot & very noisy.
now the question
sapphire or HIS?
Rodney did you ever try Sapphire? I really like them
HIS, but I've had Sapphire in the past and they worked fine.
Doesn't this card have a vapor-chamber heatsink instead of heatpipes?
Woah! This fan is loud @ 11:00.
Also Rodney, you still use core i7 920? I have already upgraded mine to core i7 970, which is 6 cores. Do you have any plans to upgrade your cpu soon either by yourself or by your sponsor?
Why?
The 970 holds absolutely no benefits towards gaming.
Correct and that's why I'm not upgrading yet.
100% Kickass card for #1200!
