The In Win Dragon Rider Case is an example of what you should be looking for in a full tower case. It has great looks, plenty of fans, lots of drive bays, tooless design, black on the inside, cable management holes and much more. Considering all the features and price, it's one of the better full tower cases on the market.
great review rodney... this case has caught my eye and is reasonably priced in the uk at £95 ... however my only gripe is the massive cutout by the psu... i would of prefered a large cable routing grommet next to the psu which would of still kept things tidy
the tooless design is excellent and iike the way the rails are kept in a optical drive bay for easy access... how many times have we misplaced these rails and cant find them when needed...
the 220mm side fan will keep most multi gpu system cool, however i would imagine 6 x 120mm fans would be too noisy.. but that does depend on what fans you use... im currently using bitfenix 120mm fans which i must admit are near silent
in regards to the top 120mm fan... i have the one fan exhausting and the 120mm fan next to it as a intake fan... allthough this sounds odd it actually works very well and keeps my E5700 and crossfire HD5750,s nice and cool.....
personally i dont beleive theres any "correct " way to install your case fans.. its trial and error and some experimentation until you get the best possible cooling ....
another possible issue with this case is the bottom mounted psu.... many guys especially with budget psu,s will discover the motherboard power connectors wont reach.... i use a 600w ocz stealthstream psu and the cables are plenty long enough, however cheaper psu,s tend to have shorter cables but this can be fixed by purchasing extenders which can be purchased from good retailers
finally theres plenty of space in this case.. more than what i thought and even with a crossfire configuration and a cool it eco alc it still looks empty... ( compared to my previous NZXT M59) ... and in regards to closed loop water cpu coolers like the eco( and corsair H50 ) these will fit on the rear 120mm fan mountings without any problems... some other cases can accomodate these cooler but you cant close the case properly afterwards... however theres around 3mm of space between the side of the cool it eco and the side panel on the case...
in summary the In Win Dragon Rider Case is a impressive chassis and makes any build a breeze.... and apart from some personal gripes ( which are minor ) this is pretty much flawless.. and for that reason it deserves high acclaim......
one of the best cases around at the moment and well worth considering !
nice review rodney !
rofl "room for a graphics card up to 13.5 inches long" what you bet that amd 9000 series doesn't fit
I have already decided to get this case! Most of what I've seen and read has been nothing but positive feedback. I'm confident in my choice in choosing this as my new gaming Case! I'm sure I wont have any problems with over heating or having enough room for the wires and every piece I'm getting for my gaming experience. In Win Dragon Rider looks like a BEAST!
I really like the jokes about removable motherboard tray , it's funny but i don't know why :D , if a lot of people would be so about hardware , this could be a whole new internet meme hahah! doubt that it will ever see the popularity of "over 9000" but oh well.
The best part is that Rodney taken it as a joke and actually supported it , ... yeah , good choice anyways, a lot better than trying to resist it or the trolls hit back negatively. (im not one of them)
When i saw that T-Shirt , it was a shocky little moment haha, like a surprise with a positive "WTF!"
keep up the good work
It has some nice features, but Im not so sure I like the styling.
The Silverstone Raven RV01 is still my favourite case
I was kinda shocked in the end that you didnt say 100% lol
if i build a new PC i'd like to see a new CoolerMaster ATCS 840 v2 :p
very nice move with the removable tray tshirt at same time as you said it LOL
Good review Rodney, I like the look and features of this case, very nice. If I was going to upgrade to a full tower and the price was right I'd really think of this.
And "Unfortunately the motherboard tray was not removable" haha =P
It would be cool if you installed a system into each case you review and then give your thoughts about its ease of use, cable management, cooling, durability, etc.
i'd way rather have a corsair graphite 600t than this junky lookin thing
i like the looks of it, but that switch just looks dumb on the side..
maybe a different one and on the back or top :/
rodney, i cant find a picture or video of this case with a build in it, can you do that? is too much for ask? please :( excuse my bad english, im from Venezuela, maybe that case will be for a good price here in venezuela, cases are expensives here because of the importation.
i like it! why not?
doesn't seem like a lot of air exhaust for having this big of an intake fan on the side. I'd still take my antec 1200 over this one.
disappoints me =/
My biggest question would be, how would you rate this case against a Haf X in regards to air cooling?
MADE IN CHINA.
I'm surprised they don't have dust filters, that's a big fan.
Video Review should be released within the hour :) Get the popcorn ready ;)
this may be my next build case!
I purchased the InWin Maelstrom case. I love it. There is never any problem with over heating parts.
I also took your advice, and cut the tape on the bottom when i got it.
I cant wait to save up for this new build!
How much does this cost in CDN currency? It looks like a beast!!
