NZXT Vulcan Case Review

NZXT Vulcan Case rated Kickass by 3dGameMan.com

Video Review #1151 Summary

Sponsored by: NZXT
Review category: Cases
Manufacturer info: More info

The NZXT Vulcan Case is a micro ATX case and therefore it's limited in some respects. Although, this case is one of the best gaming micro ATX cases out there because of it's excellent features and reasonable price. This cases accepts many large fans, comes with a black interior, has a hole of the motherboard tray for the coolers retention plate, tooless design, carry handle and much more. If you're in the market for a micro ATX gaming case, this is probably it!

I stumbled upon your site and other reviews while looking up information on just this case. I will definitely be using it in my future gaming mATX build. I appreciate the details on the case and the simple and straight to the point opinions on it. Thank you for reviewing this case and have many more reviews like it.

Hi there, just found your blog through Google, and located so that it is really informative. I'm gonna watch out for this one. Cheers!

I sure hope you would do a review on the Aerocool Strike X case.. I've been eyeing that case for quite some time now. Still not sure I'd get the Strike X case, NZXT Vulcan and NZXT Lexa S.

Darn, I wish I would have heard about this case earlier :(

Normally you shouldn't cut the the box toward your body or even toward your hand. Bad idea. Cut away from your body please.

It looks like a tank. Like the handle idea.. But still its a micro atx.. I like all your case reviews

Wow even though it's quite ugly this case packs a massive punch for the buck. The fans, black interior, handle for easy transport, eSATA, plenty drive bays, embossed side panel and holes in the tray for cable management. In fact, this case is a steal. And no ugly large LED lights on the front... I can't stand LEDS on the outside.

Only prob I have is the design (but it aint that bad) and the side mesh. I'd prefer mess for a 120mm fan and a small side window.

Overall I'd also rate this a, Kick-ass product.

Anyone knows if it can fit a Hyper 212+?

with this case you can add a matx motherboard (rampage ii gene), a cpu (980x), ram (12GB of dominator gt) video cards (two 5970s) psu, odd, and hdd this would be the ULTIMATE LAN computer

Nice ventilation on the side panel, no dust filter though. I always wanted a sidepanel with massive dust filter and a massive 200mm fan, it would be awesome. Fan controller is always good to have. The front panel is ugly to watch and orange led??? Seriously c'mon!

I like look

One concern or question I would ask. About negative and positive are flow compared to these open air systems. Noise and Dust.

Great review.

I dont like having a big vent on the side. It lets in too much dust and isnt good of you want air moving through the case properly (in the front, then out the back and top).

But apart from that it is a pretty good case.

I think I would prefer the SilverStone SG04.

I'm sorry it looks very ugly but hey, at least it has good ventilation.

I agree with you, Rodney. This case seems to have a great design, however the styling could be much better (just depends on your taste). This seems to be rather common with NZXT products.

These cases fall into what I call "Transformers" and it's just a matter of more than meets the eye. "Does the style have function?", That's the question I ask when I see a case like this.

lol the comment about the package damage reminds me when i used to work for ups years ago!!

I have seen many people on countless ocasions drop kick package's into the back of the trailer. I wish i could afford to have everything shipped to me via fed ex. It seems like fed ex takes more pride in their work and has a heck of alot better quality control.. it really is frustrating getting damaged products

Yea, even though I see many boxed damaged, I never really can understand why.

I've come to conclude that they are damaged intentionally, which is very very sad. Staff should be reprimanded for this type of behavior!

I have FedEx and UPS outlets about 3 miles from home. Anytime I send something I use FedEx because I know it will get there and if not it's under warranty. They also seem to have a better tracking and drop off hours. UPS on the other hand have dropped my stuff off at the wrong house and funny enough to home with a FedEx worker that dropped it off a few days later. Lots of boxes are all torn up, tracking bonkers most of the time and UPS likes to drop off after dark and scare me and my kids getting ready for bed with the door bell.

Seen last week a courier/delivery van and the dude went into the back, just picked up and threw parcels around till he got to the one he wanted and i thought of the things you say in unboxing videos about packaging especially case boxes being damaged which shows how some staff are just being hap hazard. Only once have i had a case box damaged really really bad and that was with an antec 900 case but luckily antec had packed the case well that despite the box damaged the product inside was fine.

Anyway on the case. This case looks great with good features and it would be great for me if i didn't have a full size ATX motherboard or if i wanted to build a small M-ATX based system.

I agree. I like that you can add an extra 200mm fan. the whole left side is ventilation, which in my eyes is better than any Plexiglass window.
