Ozone Ground Level Mouse Pads, Smog Mouse, Oxid & Strato Headset Review

Ozone Ground Level Mouse Pads, Smog Mouse, Oxid & Strato Headset rated Kickass by 3dGameMan.com

Video Review #1147 Summary

Sponsored by: Ozone Gaming Gear
Review category: Input Devices
Manufacturer info: More info

Ozone has a great lineup of products. The Ground Level mouse pads are your standard cloth/rubber mouse pads, but they look great and perform well. The Smog mouse is an amazing product with it's excellent looks, 9 buttons, LEDs, weights & exchangeable grips. The Oxid Headset is your typical stereo headset, but audio performance is great and so is the mic, The Strato Headset is a step above with 5.1 channel audio, leather earcups and more.

Where can i buy Ozone smog (Croatia, Slovenia)

Anonymous

im thinkin of buying some new 5.1 headphones but can't choose between roccat kave or the ozone STRATO. What is better??

Anonymous

Well, i havent tried Roccat Kave myself, but i just got a Ozone Strato headset for christmas, and that headset, is a BEAST. It got so many effects, and amazing sound with subwoofer, so if you're listening to music, that sounds great too. You have the option of putting 7.1 surround sound on in options, dunno why, but sounds better than the standard setting imo. They are pretty much the same, but strato is cheaper, and imo it looks better d: ..

That mouse looks like a direct copy of a Cyber Snipa Silencer mouse. Seriously. It was like DejaVu after watching a review on the Cyber Snipa Silencer before.

Here is a review for the Cyber Snipa:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpDqxKXUQZI&playnext_from=TL&videos=SnQ4gXxsRa8

And the mouse pads look as though they are copying the Razer Goliathus pads with the materials and sizes.

Overall the build quality looks a tad cheap too. I don't know...wasn't really that impressed with any of these items.

Hello,

OZONE's SMOG was launched early in June 2009 during Computex in Taipei. The products arrive to the market in September 2009. See this LINK for further reference.

Cyber Snipa's Silencer was announced officially in December 2009 (LINK).

Besides a closer look to the technical specifications will show you some other differences:

Laser Sensor: SMOG (AVAGO / ADNS9500) vs Silencer (AVAGO / ADNS6090)
MAX. Acceleration: SMOG (30G) vs Silencer (20G)
Frame Rate: SMOG (11750 fps) vs Silencer (7200 fps)
MAX. Tracking Speed: SMOG (150 ips) vs Silencer (65 ips)
LED Light effect: SMOG (RED/BLUE/GREEN/PURPLE) vs Silencer (RED)
Mouse foot pad: SMOG (CeramicFootPad) vs Silencer (TeflonFootPad)
Cable: SMOG (1.8m, nylon fabric cable) vs Silencer (1.8m, PVC Cable)

With regards to your comments on our attempts to copy Razer on their mouse pads, I think is obvious that our Groundlevel range is a standard cloth gaming surface with rubber base. Very similar to those that Razer, Steelseries and many other brands make. We have used our own image and design on them without attempting to copy any other brand.

Our products are very good priced but I would not say they look cheap. This is your personal opinion and therefore we respect that, but fortunately there has been a good deal of independent reviewers that have tested our products and they don't share your views.

I welcome everyone to visit our website and blog to see the links with all the reviews done in all your products in Europe to have a better insight on the quality of our products.

Best Regards

Make your statement clear before you know who is the copycat.
The Cyber Snipa or who?

Read the comment properly before you say I'm being unclear. I clearly said right at the start  "That mouse looks like a direct copy of the Cyber Snipa Silencer" Its pretty obvious that I am saying the Ozone Smog is a copy of the CyberSnipa Silencer.

The periwinkle feature on the mouse I really don't like. I find it impedes the middle mouse button.

I have never used a large mouse-pad, I wonder if it would improve anything for me if I used one, some times I wish he could say the prices for these items in so and so areas.

As for the headsets, I could never trust a headset that's fold able, I just could not picture the type of plastic used to make the headphones not brake over time or brake for no reason, there is just too much that could go wrong.

Both the headsets look great and real comfortable! They're on my list when I'll be buying one. The mouse... not so much. Not real into the blue/red LEDs and even with the red LEDs, there are still the blue DPI ones.

If you have a high resolution mouse, you dont really need a big mouse mat

The smog seems a pretty good mouse for my taste but personally i dont like the fact that it has no grip on the top of the mouse.

If its cheaper than a roccat kone (if mine breaks) I may consider it but i dont like having to change mice every so often.

The extra large mouse pad is pretty much just what i need to replace my current trust XL pad as its getting a bit tatty now.

Thx for the reviews rod :D

That strato headset is what looks to be just a rebranding of the Zalman ZM-RS6F USB except with a built in mic, even the software is the same? Very disapointing stuff to me because although the asthetics of the strato is great, the sound on the zalmans was so bad that I haven't used them since the day I got them.

The mouse, and mouse pads are not my cup of tea, cause i have to have a pad with a wrist rest, and i like my mouses basic like the basic Labtec USB mice which can be had for about $10, the Oxid headset looks up my ally though, still trying to decide what gaming headset I want, to replace my old Logitec behind the ear stero headphones, that died on me not too long ago LOL!! I've always had a tight budget, so I like to get products that give me good bang for the money. Great Review Rod, keep them coming. :-)

Ozone answered a similar question below, here's their answer, "Unfortunately our products are still not available for sell in the US and Canada, but we are in talks with several distributors and re-sellers there and we hope to bring you good news on this matter very soon."

The mouse looks like a cross between the Logitech G9 and the CM Storm Sentinel. Its scroll wheel looks poor quality too.  Also why would I want an LED on my mic? that would be quite distracting . I found from my experience with 5.1 headphones that they do work, but having higher quality stereo headphones and a good soundcard can give you the same positional ques but at a higher quality.  The mousepads look ok tho.

Ill just stick with SteelSeries for my Headset & mouse

and also

YouTube comments on all recent and future videos will be disabled. I suspect this will not be an issue for most people since YouTube channel comments is filled mostly with off-topic, harsh, and inappropriate comments. I don't see the point of having a tech channel that's supposed to help people, be filled with garbage.

Here, comments will be on-topic because we have more controls in place. And this is win-win situation for everyone. Being able to ask me a question directly should also help many people. Well, that's my hope anyway.

Remember, my main focus has been and always will be 3dGameMan.com, not YouTube.

I'm sorry Rodney, but the mics on these headphones sound mediocre at best.

Well, they aren't the 'best' that's out there, but that stuff costs major money. For the money, the mics on these headsets are not bad at all.

Oh, please take a minute to register, so I know whom I'm addressing ;)
