Why did Sony & Microsoft go with AMD?

All of the APU that Microsoft and Sony are buying for the next gen consoles will help bring AMD to the forefront once again. They have fallen on hard times as of late, and there have been several rumors of possible buyouts. Maybe this will be the boost that AMD needed.

Makes a lot of sense Rod. I wouldn't want to pay double for the PS4 since that is what I'm going to get. I would say Nvidia would drive the cost up to over 1,000 dollars a system. I also want to go 3D and think of the costs then. In a way Sony will boost sales in that department too because they produce awesome 3D flat screens. I think it's a win win for sony to go AMD.

What you say makes a lot of sense Rodney, tho I have some information from gamespot.com that says in this article that nvidia's thoughts on the PS4 was not worth the cost (putting nvidia into the ps4). I persume that the story is the same for the Xbox aswell. http://www.gamespot.com/news/ps4-not-worth-the-cost-says-nvidia-6405300
