Black Friday?

I have worked 8 Black Fridays over the years in the retail tech stores. It does get VERY BUSY during those times. It can get crazy if you let it. We had an average of 2000+ people inline before opening doors pretty much every year. If it is poorly managed and no security, it can get out of control. Fortunately, if you have a good team to work with, it goes by fast and it is not so bad. I have worked plenty of 20hr+ work days because of the holidays and some seem like it was only a few hours, just feel tired afterward. I do agree though, that they may be opening too early now. I was ok with the 12am, but the opening on Thanksgiving is kind of going a little much. I personally do not care if I have to work it, but there are many people that have families or it's one of their few breaks through the year. One thing I have learned over the years is, some people come out just for the fun of it, not even the sales (a lot more than you think.) All I have to say is, as everyone is spending $, I am making $$$ ;)

I just wonder how many people out there are gonna be trying to steal some stuff, making some use of the distraction with all that "Black Friday Rush"...

Yeah, people camping for three days in front of Best Buy to save a few bucks on electronics makes no sense to me. How little they must value their time, to participate in this craziness.

I would be more understanding if these people were poor and waited for this kind of opportunity to buy groceries for their family.

I still see no evidence of a recession here in California, USA

We don't have Black Friday in South Africa, but fortunately some stores do still copy the concept and offer killer deals on the same day... odd

This opening ON Thanksgiving day for black friday is bull shit. Thankfully the company I work for is still privately owned and just opening an hour early. If I did not have to work, I would be sitting at home. On the plus side I will be make some serious cash from all the people buying stuff. Only plus side.
