I did learn programming languages. If I research for another year on those languages, I could just release the game in about four years from now. Seriously.

I'm not surprised. It's expected. Just because someone feels it's not good taste, doesn't mean everyone will share that opinion and hence a game about it is out. Go figure human nature.

Hitler was worse than Bin Laden in that he killed way more people and he was actually going around conquering countries, yet there are plenty of games about Hitler and World War I & II. The question isn't "if" there will be a Bin Laden game, the question is only when. Of course it's not going to happen soon, because it is still a touchy topic, but so was WW I & II and Vietnam and all the other histories of war. But if you look around, there is pretty much a game for every violent event in history.

The games are already out!! I have completed loads of user made missions in ArmA where the objective is to kill/capture a "High Ranking Taliban Leader".

Its a shame they havent released video of the raid. I'd pay to see that bearded wierdo murderer get dropped.

No game or any form of media will ever come out about this because if word got out that it is even loosely based on that then all the terrorists will come with AK47's strapped to their backs lol

It'll make a very good movie. A game goes a little to far.
If a game does come out. It'll flop!

If they do come out with one, it won't be for a long while, and it will only be loosely based on real events.

Anonymous

If they do come out with a game, they will charge you a lot of money over a 10 year span. With no exit strategy, it will never let you win.

Anonymous

I also didn't mention to use this as a game, you must not be a very good game designer. I've seen people try to copy stuff like this, and then they can't roll with it. Good game designers don't need Osama to make a great game.

Very true, to both of your comments.

Oh and when I started looking around twitter and stuff to see what people were saying, I came across a post that went to a site that was selling t-shirts and stuff with his head on them and some text. Only about two hours or so, I think, after Obama's speech announcing the attack.

There might not be a game, but highly very highly possible someone will try to profit from this in different ways. When it comes to money, there is always greed somewhere and so to say no one will abuse this, is really just ignoring a fact.

On May 1, 2011 Pres. Barack Obama appeared on national television with the
spontaneous announcement that Osama bin Laden, the purported organizer of
the tragic events of September 11th 2001, was killed by military forces in
Pakistan.

Within moments, a media blitz ran across virtually all television networks
in what could only be described as a grotesque celebratory display,
reflective of a level of emotional immaturity that borders on cultural
psychosis. Depictions of people running through the streets of New York and
Washington chanting jingoistic American slogans, waving their flags like
the members of some cult, praising the death of another human being,
reveals yet another layer of this sickness we call American society.

Wish I could've been there, either NY or the White House. Good day in history. Would've been just as great if he had been captured though too.

Takes about a year to make a fast shooter game. I'm pretty sure there might already be some game content with him in it that was removed in order to please the Government and Politicians.

I dont think making a game with Bin Laden is a great idée. And there already exist games with that kind of a story line, special groupe going in and rescue or to kill someone. I my self have a great idee to a game with a simular story line, i even have it half way down in a book. :-) But i would never use Bin Laden or people like that in my story. It will be exiting to see who and when a game about this will come, but i wouldent buy this Bin Laden game.

You know. I was thinking the same exact thing earlier today, before I even came on to see your poll. Funny how we thought the same thing. Who knows, but a game wouldn't surprise me, and since no American Troops were hurt supposedly and no civilians were hurt as well.... I wouldn't be surprised if they had a level about this event, and having your team not injured and no civilian casualties as a game achievement, while the rest of the game could be about certain combat events about the afghan/iraq war, or something lol. Just my two cents. ;)

I’m happy he’s gone.
If a developer places Bin Laden in a game he is rather sick than normal. Very bad taste.
Respect for dead. This man has a lot innocent of blood on his hands.

Anonymous

Well... There's a lot of games related to the Nazi-era. Osama has a lot less blood on his hands than the nazis...

there will eventually be a game about it, but probably some years (5-6yrs) down the line because its and emotional subject. then again, it would probably never be touched because of how emotional it is.

and yes...it would be in bad taste if they made a game based on this.

Er.. You make no sense. You do know that its not about that fake photo right? Actual American troops went to where he actually was, and shot him..

Really no need for a game or movie or book for this.

Why are people rejoicing over the death of another human being? I understand what he did, but if you want another person dead, you are a disgrace to the human race

No doubt in my mind it will help stop more families from being destroyed.

There will be an Al Qaeda game, without Osama Bin Lamen. Similar complaints and issues Wolf3D and Wolfenstein had.

Anonymous

There probably will be a video game about it. I am glad that Osama is dead, what he did was completely wrong. But at the same time I believe that George Bush is just as evil a person, on 9/11 approx 3000 people were killed, and I totally think the people responsible should be dead, but the fact is people seem to forget about the civilian deaths of innocent iraqies & afghans, infact there were about 700,000+ iraqies killed during the war on "Terrorism", some sources claim that its closer to 100,000, but I find that hard to believe personally, I think the numbers are much higher, either way whatever numbers you believe, its not really acceptable is it?

The U.S. went on war for the deaths of 3000 people, and they've killed between 100,000-700,000 innocent Iraqies, so the question is where is the justification?

Wouldn't make much of a game since the whole strike probably only took a few minutes. However I'm really looking forward to seeing a documentary about this.

If your talking about a fully fledged FPS game then I think after repercussions have died down, so probably a couple of years. I also think the Call of Duity franchise will be a potential company to produce this game.

There are some multiplayer free games that can create new scenarios and maps within couple days, I play a lot of Point Blank World by Kaybo, and they have special events for special occasions same with NFS world.
