I bought this game, but was super disappointed and will never buy a game because of hype again. This was just a not so well done game compared to Crysis 1.

Anonymous

It is to my concern that consoles should have stopped at ps2. We are supposed to be evoluting (sorry im not english), not going back in time. The ps3 and the 360 have ruined pc games. All we get now are horrible ports that make me ashamed of being a pc gamer. After Crysis Warhead comes this crap that my old 9400gt can almost run and I don't know what to say more since I'm very pissed and I can't think straight now. DAMN CONSOLES!

Anonymous

Changed my mind from maybe to eventually about getting the game. At this time I am too busy playing Mass Effect 2 replaying it after I got Mass Effect 1. Trying to wrap up that game than will likely get Crysis in about a months time or when on sale on Steam whatever of the two happens first. If it goes on sale tomorrow I will buy it tomorrow, I'm just happy they are working out the bugs it was released with. Only looking forward to single player only play Killing floor Multi-player. Since my last post I tried the Bulletstorm demo, it worked just fine on the PC but didn't like the game.

Anonymous

What's gonna happend with graphic card sales if all new games are all console ports? I mean, what's the point of getting new hardware, when you can run the games just fine on 4 or 5 year old hardware? What's nvidia and amd gonna do about that?

Anonymous

It's a maybe will get the game, these console ports of a game are getting very annoying. Small world areas, locked frame rates on many games such as "Bulletstorm" another horrible port. At least they are updating Crysis 2 over time so I might get it later on, likely during a sale of 15-20% off or when Directx 11 patch is out. Why than? to reward the developer for making it more of what a PC game should be rather than just porting it over. If everyone went out and got only the more high end versions of games ported to PC developers would likely pay attention. Multi-player doesn't matter to me so that Crysis2 issue doesn't matter. Games I intend to get are Duke Nuke Forever (don't be a lousy console port at least it's $10 cheaper) and Mass Effect 3. Been buying less newly released games as of late and been playing my older games more and getting the DLC for those quality PC games.

i think most pc gamers are just upset that crysis 2 isn't like crysis 1 because in crysis one you needed future hardware to run the game properly with good fps. so it was a real benchmark game and a test to find the limit whit dx 10(.1) and get the best grafix as possible . now dx11 is out and evrybody whit an expencie gpu hopes for a game that will push there gpu to the limit. so ah crysis did it before now hope they do it again. and then it comes out only dx9.c no big improvement (k nice image qualety) but it isn't like crysis 1 which just drive the modern hardware to the limit . i think most people would have found it a superb game if you could only reach 60fps if you had crosfireX or 3-way SLI whit a 6core cpu at high setting and dx11. if you wanted to play at max setting you needed a future hardware like HD7xxx or a gtx5xx

i was just woundering some of the settings and fps that people are getting on crysis 2.... im running the highest settings @ 1920x1080 and getting 60 - 65 fps.... i think that doing alright for myself.

Anonymous

You know I built a machine to ready myself for the Next Crysis Game.

I7-920
12GB RAM
3-GTX 470 TRI SLI

For what, lol might of whipped out 2- Voodoo 2 Monster 12MB PCI cards in SLI. They could have run this console port LOL

Pathetic, every game on the PC is turning into a console port.
I am at the point where im replaying 5-10 year old games because they have more of a story line.
Graphics are great but a story that grips you and draws you into the game like the old AD&D Gold Box Games.
I will only buy games that are released on PC only going forward, BTW I heard dice was making BF3, PC only but now i hear a multiple system launch and now guess what supposedly a souped up version for PC, yeah ok.. Here is your ocnsole port suckers shell out 59.99

Anonymous

Yeah I agree.
There aren't many games with a good story these days. Almost every time I try out a new game, I feel like I've played this game a million times before. Sure things look better with every new game, but that only keeps me interested for a few minutes and then I'm bored. All the focus of the developers, seems to be on how the game looks and feels. But the main story seems to be completely unimportant to them. Maybe the developers are just scared of making a game that won't sell and they'll loose money and credibility.

Crysis 2 is awesome, it's a pitty there's so many people making such a big deal out of nothing about the dx 9, if you saw the game you would eat your words.

And for those of you who still want the dx11, it will be coming out in 2-3 months time in a patch.

I torrented this shit and still haven't been bothered to finish. Take that for what you will.

Hell no I didn't buy this stupid console game. It is the offspring of Call of Duty and Halo.

It was a pretty addicting game, and ive experienced no bug/error during my gameplay. I only used an HD5670 and I could run it on max settings w/ full resolution. The only problem is that its less demanding than the first, its probably the massive amounts of vegetation in Crysis? I was happy that it didnt disappoint me, I easily adapted into the new suit controls and the urban environment. Definitely a must buy.

Crysis2 looks better plays better than most games on the market! It has a good game play awesome action for a start, And dont be knocking The DX9 API!! Without DX9 there is no DX11, Crytek have set new standards with the cry engine 3 and all this port crap talk is based on little but nothing!! Crysis 2 may look like a port but no peaple It is not a port of any kind,Do your reserch and you find out!!And everyone say's
No DX11 but it looks better than DX10? Another thing if you look in your instal file's it has DX9/DX10 and DX11 render dll's why is this i wonder?

Yep. Just finished mine.

Note to people who's gonna buy it. Get patch 1.1 and install it because Crysis 2 has some bugs. Its 146Mb more or less. The bugs appear only on some levels and then desapear after the game checkpoint is done. On the other hand, Crysis 2 is less demanding on graphics then Crysis... ah... 1.... and Crysis : Warhead and doenst use DirectX11. But still the graphics are awsome and a bit demanding. The enemy A.I. sometimes kinda sucks in some levels and that is showned, for example, when you are using a sniper rifle and shooting an enemy and the "dude" stays there getting hits and dont bother to change his location. Other times i shoot at one enemy, even cloaked, and then they attack me in hordes and obvioulsly, when that happens, you get a 5% chance of coming out that situation alive.

The suit is everything on Crysis 2. It can be improved during game ( and you will need it, thrust me ) and its a much better improvement from Crysis and Crysis : Warhead. There are more guns, you will need to adopt tactics during game because if you go there thinking you're ducking Rambo, you will be ducking dead.

In the end, its a very nice game with a great visual. Has everything of the first Crysis and more and better.
In my opinion, is a 9\10...

I bought the game on the release date, I have only had time to play 4 hours of the campaign so far but I can say that it's AMAZING! Totally worth the $60 IMHO...even with no DX11 support the game at the extreme preset runs awesome on my system, much more optimized than the original.

Really, but how do you like the console gameplay and other console characteristics?

No Dx11 kinda kills it for me :/ I was really hoping Crysis 2 would push the PC to it's limit, something like Crysis did back in the day.

I want to buy a Direct X11 Edition Box of the game or Benchmark Edition for enthusiast PC gamers, not a DX9 and patch it later.

A lot of the times, some of the glitches in bugs in a game when it's released can be funny or silly, except for the stuff that plagued Gears of War 2 at launch, oh god that was terrible.

From the look of the posts I've read, it seems most of you don't like console ports, but for me, I do, so I might get one whenever I get a chance to upgrade my computer to a 980G chipset or so with AMD Fusion-based APU. But then I can't say for certain how will AMD's next generation of APU processors will perform next year. This could be a nice combination with XBOX 360, even though I will probably not make fully use of XBOX 360's features like downloadable game content, since I plan to use XBOX 360 as a gaming console. :)

Of course, to each their own.

PS: In my opinion, I must be thinking that the gamers with very high end video cards who hate consoles due to the fact that PC is the king for gaming are pretty much in the minority these days, but don't get me wrong and don't take my word for it. I really like to play FPS games that are heavily optimized for consoles and have the games be ported to PCs so maybe I could play it in my PC depending on the system requirements.

EDIT: That's strange. All the line breaks have been been ignored. I'm uisng Firefox in KDE, if that helps.

um i have not gotten yet but i am not sure if it will last as long as crysis 1 that story line lasted a good while let me tell you

Anonymous

Yes, I pre-ordered it back in early January 2010

Anonymous

Yeah I will be getting it too in around a week on steam. I'm not much a multiplayer mode person and tend to enjoy Single player more as I find it to be more immersive.

Anonymous

Guys this is well worth the purchase

I was angry with the leak but thought its an old built its going to get better.
Then they released the Crysis 2 MP Demo and I'm sure all you guys know it was a Xbox 360 port, no doubt.

Well I had already Pre-Purchased on Steam so I was not getting out of it, I'll have a go.
I played the first 3 Levels and though this is nothing special.
Then it really started to get interesting, only got 5 missions left.

Most of the maps are EPIC!!! great detail and impressive environments.
Also you can download a Crysis 2 Advanced Graphics Option, shouldn't be hard to find. Gives you the same options as Crysis and more.

Highly recommended and if its on sale for $40/£20 and you don't get it then your really missing out.

If your wanting to play the MP, personally I'd pass. Its Call of Duty with limited Nanosuits

I will not buy any console port. Just like Mafia 2 there will only be checkpoints wich is a pain in the ass, and also the game is very scripted and pretty much dumbed down to fit the console players.

I played the leaked Beta when it came out and was impressed with much of the story I played before tearing my hair out over bugs (gave up after a bit) and such. Then the demo came out on Steam and I liked the multiplayer aspect. I was going to buy it on launch but other things came up so I'll be getting it real soon considering my birthday is next week either way.

I'll wait but not for the same reason, I'm waiting for it to come down in price =P

I only want to play the story so I'm not paying the full price, the multiplayer looks like 'tacked on' rubbish meant to keep the console call of duty addicts quiet.

"Maximum, Game".

I didn't buy it, I downloaded the game, It is clearly a console port, you can't adjust AA or AF options, no save games etc.. But I've been playing it for about a few hours, started a couple days ago, and at first I was disappointed, not only by the graphics, but by the gameplay and controls, It's been changed quite a bit, and being a Crysis + Crysis Warhead fan It bothered me.. But having to play it for some hours I've actually gotten used to everything and am enjoying it!

It's still a fun game, I don't know if it's worth buying, there are also quite a bit of bugs, especially those using a mult-gpu config.. I experienced some minor bugs where the sun rays were flickering, but apart from that no issues yet..

Anonymous

Well the single player length is about 10 hours or even a little more.

Anonymous

I got the limited edition from amazon in the UK, arrived on the day of release, i had read up and all the critique for the previous three days as the US audiences had the game in advance and the reviews were 'bad' to say the least, very few liked the game while most were worried about performance (flickering) and other bugs, but all of these will be gone in due time with a patch or two, i upgraded my rig in anticipation of crysis 2 to maximize the visuals, also for other titles, but i what i found in the first few hours of my gaming experience with crysis 2 was that it's very enjoyable, you can finish the single player game with few bugs, but multi-player needs work though, but for the main single player game i did actually enjoy it, i understand that within the first few days of any PC release considering all the various combinations of computer hardware getting a title to work world-wide can be a bind, but all in all i would say the game could of been 'polished' a bit more with some more quality control prior to release, I played with the music off and various custom graphics settings to illuminate the 'flicker' problem including some custom AA and other tweaks and the game itself ran very smoothly, being a fan of the original crysis and a gamer for the last 30 years (yes I'm that old) i can understand the criticisms of the game compared to the original, but it's performance is better, looks good and plays well, I'm looking forward to playing the game again once a patch (or two) has been released, i play my games exclusively on the PC.

Anonymous

I get why people keep complaining about dx9 flicker blah blah, but the game does looks better, its unfortunate that they sacrificed the 3d objects for some fixed textures in order to obtain performance, but performance wise, at least i can play the game at maximum and using my graphic card AA and anisotropic filtering and the game still runs smoothly, i hope that with future patches they release dx11 and the sandbox, but right now i am dont regret buying it, i still have hope they will fix the issues. Now really for the people complaining like " i didnt bought it to play in dx9, its a console port, etc" please stop whining like a console fanboy.

Anonymous

I did get it, Then found out what a horrid piece of consolized shit it was and how all the hype about "we're going to be pushing PC tech once again" was complete crap so went and got my money back.

EVERYTHING has been dumbed down and made worse for consoles, Probably one of the only games in history where the squeal gives you less then the original.

No, it's a horrid console port, just look at the video options. Crytek used to care so much about the PC community, but now that they are on consoles, they don't give a damn. So screw them, I'm not buying crap from them, not even worth the bandwidth to pirate it.

Anonymous

For someone who spends most their time on the internet and amongst techies your poll suprisingly lacks one very important option: No, I downloaded it.

Anonymous

Heeey 3dGameMan

I bought the game and it was totaly worth it some players says no its no worth it because the game dosent
have DirectX 11 only 9 yet but 11 gone come out later with a patch so thats whats making the game a little
bad but im myself got surprised because the game dosent have that bad grafic, ive have play like 2-3 hours and the game is still good, only bad thing i have to say is that the multiplayers is ALOT laggy.....

Hope i didnt spell the most words wrong if i did im sry im not so good at spelling english because im Swedish

Have a nice day!

Anonymous

Yep, on steam. Got it for $50 AUD by a friend who got it gifted to me from the UK.

Finished it on the hardest difficulty, took me 10.6 hours apparently, no MP as yet.

Awesome game. Very fun, lots of challenge, different ways to win, hard but not too hard except in what's arguably the biggest 'boss' fight in the game.

Anonymous

when you have got Crysis 2 can you post a gameplay video were you are gaming with live commentary, that would have been awesome:D

Anonymous

The whole game screams "console port". Crytek, who was known as the company that would develop graphically intense games that could push any PC to their limits has now jumped on the console train and releases a bad console port which looks worse than the original Crysis and uses the 6 year old DX9.

Who will now be the pioneer in PC graphics now that everyone have abandoned us for consoles and all we get are awful ports?

This review sums it up pretty well: http://hardocp.com/news/2011/03/23/crysis_2_pretty_much_sucks_sloppy
