My Main Desktop:

ECS A780GM-A Ultra Motherboard
AMD Athlon X2 4050e CPU
2GB DDR2 RAM
750GB Hard Drive
300W Seasonic PSU
Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Sound Card (Windows only)
Echo Gina 3G Audio Interface (Linux mostly, but I do use a preamp under Windows)
ASUS Blu-Ray Drive
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit
Dream Studio 32-Bit (Linux) with PAE extension (for having up to 64GB of RAM but my mothyerboard only supports about 16GB, I think)

I only played emulated games since I'm a diehard Eastern/Japanese RPG gamer (I'm a huge fan of it).

For my server

Ubuntu Server 10.04 with Kernel-based Virtual Machine support (KVM, libvirt)
ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 Motherboard
AMD Athlon II X2 240e CPU (purchased from Amazon)
8GB of DDR3 RAM
750GB Hard Drive
PC Power and Cooling 310W Silencer Power Supply
Happauge HVR-1250 ATSC TV Tuner (PCIe)
Atheros AR2413 802.11bg Wireless Controller (rev a0) (PCI)
Realtek RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10) (PCI)
No DVD-ROM drive
Z-Wave USB Stick (for home automation)

Software setup for my Ubuntu Server 10.04:

hostapd (turns my wireless adapter into an access point)
My wireless adapter, already functioning as an access point, bridges with my network interface controller, like this:

# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).

# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

# The primary network interface
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

auto br0
iface br0 inet static
address 192.168.0.1
netmask 255.255.255.0
post-up iptables-restore < /etc/iptables.up.rules
bridge_ports eth1 wlan0
post-up /etc/init.d/dhcp3-server restart

iface eth1 inet manual
up ifconfig $IFACE 0.0.0.0 up
up ip link set $IFACE promisc on
down ip link set $IFACE promisc off
down ifconfig $IFACE down

iface wlan0 inet manual
up ifconfig $IFACE 0.0.0.0 up
up ip link set $IFACE promisc on
down ip link set $IFACE promisc off
down ifconfig $IFACE down

(eth1: wired NIC; wlan0: wireless)

MythTV Backend 0.24
MythWeb (for accessing TV guide and controlling scheduled recordings away from home)
Asterisk PBX 1.8 (my gosh; Digium has [url=http://www.asterisk.org/downloads]Asterisk 1.8.3.2 already available and I'm using Asterisk 1.8.2 or so).
Kernel Virtual Machine that runs Windows Server 2008 R2 Trial version, which is blazingly fast during startup/shutdown and I can run Windows Vista Business if I want to, since I currently have it)
Samba with LDAP authentation and acts as a domain controller (I can join a domain, but can't login)

Anyway, I think that's about it, unless there's more that I have for my server. I do watch recorded TV shows in Linux.

HTPC: AMD Athlon X2 4050e CPU with 780G ATX motherboard running Windows 8 DP (4GB) and Ubuntu; Server: AMD AII X2 240e CPU with 880G-based ATX motherboard running Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS (8GB)

2 pairs of Insignia NS-B2111s (front/rear), Pioneer SP-C21 Center Speaker, and 12" Velodyne Sub

Just ordered HP Pavilion dv7-6165us from QVC. Will have it by next Friday.

My base of operations includes a 12 core Mac Pro with 2 Intel Xeon westmere CPU's at 2.93 GHz, 64GB of RAM, GeForce gtx 285 video card 2x 27" Apple Cinema Displays and a whole lot of hard drive space (all together 6TB and one SSD that I boot from)

Just imagine how expensive it was! It took me a longass time to collect the money for this machine but it's awesome!!!

Oh and I partitioned the SSD so there is both Mac OS X that I use most of the time and there is Windows 7 Ultimate that I use for gaming and some other programs that are Windows only :)

After I got this machine I just need an Access Virus TI synthesizer and all of my dreams have come true <3

Gaming rig, I do almost solely high-power computing (3d rendering, texturing, modeling and animation, as well as a lot of gaming and motion graphics)
Example of applications used (a typical day, these apps are running 24/7)
Photoshop CS5
After Effects CS5
3DS Max 2011
Vray rendering server (host for my local rendering farm made up of retired computers and my laptop)
VLC Media player (music/vidz/streams/viewing finished projects)

My primary system is:
i7 930 @4.4Ghz
12GB DDR3 @1800Mhz, 8-8-8 24 timings
2x GTX 460's in SLI (OC'd to 950Mhz core, 2200Mhz double-pumped memory)
2x OCZ vertex LE 120GB SSDs in SLI (read~450MB/s write~300MB/s)

The rest of the spec's don't really matter, it's all water cooled with a custom loop and a triple 120mm rad with 6 fans on it mounted 2inches off the back of the case.

I use my desktop computer for nearly everything.
Even though I have a MSI gx640 gaming laptop, I really don't use it for gaming.
Onboard graphics just doesn't cut it for serious gaming.
I generally don't like laptops as they always screw up the keyboard layout.
Some of the most important keys like "del", "home" and "end"(I use them for programming and text editing, usually not for gaming) are likely to be relocated even though it would have been more useful to just remove the keypad to optimize space.
I don't like the "fn" key on most laptops, it's just annoying. I also always turn off windows keys (I can do that on my Logitech G11 and G15 keyboard)
I tried using my gaming keyboard with the laptop, but it felt like being too far away from the screen with two keyboard sets in between.(you can't move the laptop keyboard without moving the screen too)
To sum up what is wrong with laptop gaming:
-Slow graphics
-Bad keyboard layout (fn key and relocated keys)
-Fans blow hot air at your mouse hand (at least on the gx640)

my desktop rig, Fury0us, is:

Athlon II X4 635 2.9 stock @ 3.36
Dual boot 7 Pro x64 with XP x86 (for black ops and other older games)
HIS Radeon HD 5770 stock
4 GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800
ASUS M3A78-EM
Logitech MX518
Xfire Gaming Mousepad I won on Twitter
Logitech G11
Emachines 21.5" 1080p monitor (it's made by Acer)
Logisys CSW51SL
Caviar Black 500 GB
Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer
Creative Fatal1ty HS-800

i know it's old but it still packs a punch. going for new mobo, new ram, pair of 5770s, and a bulldozer in the near future. low mouse dpi and low sensitivity FPS gaming for the win.
