If I really like something, and I feel it's worth the money, and
I have the money, I will go out and buy it, like my Wii and DS games, something for example, like when someone tries to charge $70 for an unlock code for say a 2mb download of a software, then I say the hell with them, Pirate away mates.

Anonymous

That really was funny! Do some research and discover something called torrents. You say you use Rapidshare for 8 years? Are you kidding me?

Interesting poll, well i have to say that i pirate, mostly because it's expensive and i can't afford it, but when i really like something i will probably go and buy it; i'm buying Gears of war 3 even if it cost me +60€ lol

Anonymous

I pirate everything if the company makes money.

The creators of Amnesia: The Dark Descent are in huge debt due to everyone pirating the game.

It was literally 3 people in a little room creating that game and it's very good.

Please show your support and give them $20 for the real game on Steam.

Right now I am downloading pirated versions of Windows 7 and Office. Why pay hundreds of dollars when I can just click the download button. Already downloaded my TV shows today that run on HBO. All off this thanks to my neighbors WiFi. But mainly not software because Linux kicks ass.

Anonymous

Wow, you suck!
Pirating an operating system is just plain stupid - as it's the main piece of pc software, so don't rely on your pirated PC.
And also stealing WiFi is just plain un-cool. I respect people's WiFi because they've paid for it and probably don't know how to secure it.

I'm going to assume this poll is being asked because of this: http://demandprogress.org/blacklist/ Though I may be wrong and it could just be random. :p

anyway, great site 3Dgameman been watching your reviews for a long time and I find them real informative and they help me come to better decision when buying pc related products.

why pirate windows when Linux is completely free and way more stable then windows will ever be!!!!!

Well, If I need an application for educational purposes. There is no way I am going to pay $300 just to use it once.

Shareware just doesn't cut it.

Anonymous

I pirated a copy of photoshop Cs4. Photoshop is too expensive. I agree with TucsOndog, I will usually purchase music, movies or software if the product is worth buying and the company conducts itself ethically.

Anonymous

Sorry to say but pirating is way better for the environment, no trash, just delete :D

Anonymous

Should be multiple choice. Anyway, I pirate movies, music, and occasionally, applications.

Anonymous

for music is like this:I download it, if I like it I'll buy the cd.

Oh sweet and delicious irony, how I love thee so.

Although I pirate, if I find the software has Value, I always pay for it in the end, same with Movies and Music. They need more Try before you buy.. to much is just pure JUNK or worse, crashes your system.

I always try to buy all my games

Anonymous

im only 16 and i pirate basically almost anything i can grab. reason for this is because not only i cant afford anything.. but its just so simple to just find sites on the internet which can allow to download basically anything. P2P torrents and what not make it all possible for me.

Anonymous

I'm 17, and I buy everything. Maybe you've not heard of it but one word; "JOB".

I had a paper-round when I was 13 till 15, then I got a job in the same shop when I was 16 until now. If I had to go to work for these things, I don't see why you don't.
It's not that you can't afford it, it's that you can't be bothered to. And that dictates the rest of your life.

Why not have a good one?

Anonymous

Nahh not really I only did TuneUp Utilities because I bought what I thought was a legit code on ebay but they said it was a bad code so then I pirated the serial... music too $1.25 per song is ridiculous I'm not paying that. I think of it as youtube without wifi... people most music on youtube to listen to and its not being taken down soo....

Anonymous

I mostly pirate movies and apps. I used to pirate the OS (I had a good reason for that) but I don't anymore.
I do occasionally dl games, whenever I'd feel violated if I payed the full price for it.

Anonymous

I pirate everything, I am tired of paying a premium for everything an I can't afford it. If prices were reasonable I'd support everything. But if the product is great quality and worth the money I always support the company when I have the cash to buy a legit copy. Pirating is like taking a movie, game or operating system for a test drive and as I said if it's a good product I'll pay for it. Too many greedy companies anymore, especially when I make 8 bucks an hour. Tired of my wage slavery so if you don't like my attitude, too bad deal with it!

Anonymous

i pirate apps because i lost my job.

Anonymous

I sometimes will DL apps but not often. Nothing else if I like something I support the poeple providing it for me. For Shame the people that voted everything for shame...

Piracy is educational.

Anonymous

Bullshit. Try again please.

I download the odd movie, game and most of my music. But most of my games I like to buy, and usually I'll delete a movie right after I've watched it, but I know I probably shouldn't be doing it at all. I just look at my bank account and see how much I "need" and how much its going to cost and pretty much there is nothing left for movies, music and all the games I want to get, so I have to choose very carefully.

Information should be free. Giving money for freely reproducible information should be voluntary. Only when I want to support something do I buy it. And I donate money to artists and other media producers when I think they are doing something exceptional.

I don't pirate, iv'e worked in software development once and I know how hard it is to develop software.

I don't pirate music cause I played in a band and piracy is why the music industry sucks in my country

I only pirate DLC for games from greedy company's that try to rip you off by charging for DLC when it should be free.

Anonymous

I only pirate something when I really cannot afford it. Most people I know are like this so I don't see it as a negative at all. It's just more efficient sharing. There's little to no loss involved because I wouldn't of been able to buy it in the first place.

Anonymous

MS WIN7 $228.94 = Are they giving us a diamond studded case ???

Anonymous

Well, I don't think pirating helps anyone... sometimes you just gotta play by your own rules to let the companies know "reduce the god darned price, its not in materialistic *except the cd and the funny manual or guide* its just sad monopoly right off the bat...

like Adobe, Maya, Microsoft(MS is curbing now^_^* but still)...

Now I can most definitely pay for my anti virus software and for some of the games on PC... PS3 on the other hand *tch* wish there was a way to pirate PS3 games though... I can buy a new console for every set of 6+ games purchased for the same...

It's just the bigshots over-deliver and monopolize *is that even a word?* everything...

I know it's wrong and could cause the companies some serious loss over the long process but until they learn to nerf down the prices to affordable levels its PIRACY FOR THE WIN!!

Anonymous

You think Sony could afford to make the PS3 for the price they do if you didn't buy games?

No, the development and marketing all added on top makes it pretty un-viable.

Buying the legit versions are so much better to use. But sometimes you just can't afford it. That's when hacking kicks in. :L

i dont pirate, its wrong, its stupid. its illegal in many respects, and the worst part is you can never count on it functioning properly. piracy sucks. piracy hurts the economy, the people who put the time and money into the software, only to get jewed out of it. i hope you guys are happy, ripping off all them developers. they be climbin in yo windows, grabbin yo computers . hide your case, hide your mice, hide your monitor cause they stealing everythin out there. you dont have to come, and confess, we ip trackin you, we ip trackin you, so you can run & im that, run & im that, w-w-workstation.
