Yo, married != dead. :-)

Rodney you trying to get us guys in trouble with the ladies? My opinion about booth babes is ahhh no. Im there to see a product not some chinese girls boobs.

Anonymous

Maybe I'm just a cocky bastid. . . but I think a dumb broad would turn me away from a product. I'd much rather have a knowledgeable agent in a suit explain to me how great a product is. Not some plastic fantastic broad smile and scream how "awesome" her temporary's employer's crap is . . .

Anonymous

what kinda question is that Rodney?

more appropriate Q - "Do we really need to watch cars drive around a loop for 500 miles?"

Anonymous

Sorry Rodney... when you say you look at nothing else I just can't believe you. EVERY guy window shops, married or not.

Anonymous

Thats just great man. I'm sure you make your wife proud.

Anonymous

i would not mind seeing booth babes. But if they distract my eyes from actually seeing the product, than it is a distraction. I don't know why they flirt with me, and i am just an average looking guy. Or is it part of their job to do that?

Anonymous

personally they kinda are and they arnt, their more of a eye catcher to grab your attention to come over and see the product as for advertisements their not because it would never be about the product they would be about the girl in most cases, thats why when its advertising its about the product to grab you eye its about the girl sadly enough this is how a good 70% or so of guys are they have to have the product just because they seen some "booth babe" all over it.

Anonymous

Im just surprised there isnt a lawsuit yet because these companies are using women to promote something, lets say a cpu cooler. Yea Im a guy I like tits and all that but I have to draw the line. If I go somewhere Im mature enough not to drool all over the girls, this isnt a strip club. I will be there to look at the product.

I wouldn't say they're necessary, but they definitely don't hurt anything.

it's simple, the main consumer for these kind of products are men and they like ass and tits.

I say have the best of both worlds. Either way I am going to see what the PRODUCT has to offer :)

Anonymous

I voted "other", because although not required, if there isn't a booth babe present I don't stop. Sorry if that offends anyone but as much as I like Tech, unless it is jewl encrusted or is something that I've been drooling over from sneak pre-reviews I just pass by it.

And SUUUUUUUURE you just look at the tech R.R., nothing wrong with being on a diet, but you can still look at the menu. Though the items on it are pricier than they used to be, what with inflation and all. lol

Seems like most like T&A... go figure! ;)

LOL. I like your "look at the product" part.

Well, sex sells. This is especially true for products that men are interested in.

Kind of annoying to me. I'd prefer someone who would give specs on new products and might be able to answer a few questions. On motor shows you see a lot of them, sitting in their, whatever you call that shiny stuff, on leather seats of expensive cars all day long. You can also get in to get to know certain vehicles, rather disgusting in my opinion.

Once on an AMD-expo, I think it was Toronto but not sure right now, they actually had men and women from the production team who explained what the Opteron processors could do better than the previous generation and why it is better than Intel's Xeon line-up.

Anonymous

not necessary, but at most conferences and things, they are expected.they do not serve any real purpose, so I would say no.

Anonymous

Booth babes is a factor in attracting possible customers to at least take a look at the product. but I base my decision on the featurs and reviews.

Anonymous

This "looking at the product" while showing your ring was hilarious :)

As for the poll - I would rather see a hot girl presenting the product instead of some the guy. I can talk to the tech guy about the product, don't get me wrong, but as far as presentation goes - hell yeah for hot girls :)

Anonymous

Love that last gesture! And since I'm single...Hell yea!

Anonymous

hmmm we don't have it here in Arab countries but i'm engaged anyway so i'll be looking only at the product just like you man hehe

Anonymous

I been married and as my wife says there is nothing wrong with eye candy, as long as you have a good look but dont touch...UK Cliffst3rz

Hey are useful advertisement tools, but sometimes you actually need a professional to display the advertisement.

Anonymous

of course their useful, it was never meant to appeal for married men, but its directed at single, maybe even guys that are attached.

Anonymous

I don't think a booth babe is necessary, but you wouldn't hear me complain about one. That is unless she looks like a ferengi or klingon.

its not quite 100% necessary but it attracts customers and adds to the display. they dont have to do the whole waving the arms trying to display the item they just gotta stand there and it will make more guys come over

Let's put it this way. Are booth babes as necessary as babes at Hooters? Perhaps it's not the same thing, but at the end of the day, it attracts customers.

IF the babes chose to work for that job, and are treated the way they want to [with respect], I don't see a problem with it...it's not like it's pr0n or anything.

When one goes to Hooters, one looks to have a good time while eating food, having a few drinks, and watching sports, while at the same time having a few good-looking women around as waitresses. One doesn't necessarily go there to look for chicks, and if they do, then that's a problem. Same deal with booth chicks. One goes there to look at the product, while having pleasant-looking women around in order for us "geeks" to have an easy-going time. For us geeks [in my opinion], booth chicks serve the same purpose as the chicks at Hooters... to simply be pleasant and friendly women. There's also nothing wrong with flirting if any flirting goes on, that is of course unless you're dedicated to a loved one. But again, if one goes up to the booth to simply try to hit on those booth chicks, that's a problem.

Basically, is it a necessity to have booth chicks? Not really. We don't ALWAYS NEED to go to Hooters to have a good time as there are other good restaurants out there, and the food will still be just as good [unless the restaurant is terrible]. The same rule applies here, booth chicks are not needed to make the product better, as the product is still just as good without them [unless the product is actually terrible].

If it to hype a game or some sort of PC based entertainment I think they serve a purpose but only terms of eye candy and not much else. Mostly I find them a nuisance at trades shows. I am only interested in what the innovations exist for new products and find myself trying to ignore them at best. The solid engineering behind a product has to sell me... not some babe in a t-shirt and short shorts.

Anonymous

I come to a computer convention to see the latest in hardware and software. Not to see naked chicks.
Okay they are better then my naked chick at home.
But then again, i can touch my naked chick, but not the one's at the convention (believe me i tried ;) )

So i have to say NO.

I don't mind attractive women to be around, but I never do get that sense of "she's here for the product." and rather more because "she's here for easy money."

If a booth babe comes off as being very fake, I don't like it.

Also if a booth babe is hassled or taken advantage of my other guys, I don't like it.

When people lose sight, they pray for better vision. Even though the path of ignorance was their choice, they believe it to be an outer entity like karma or bad luck - in thus believing an outer cause will cure it. You want change? Stop throwing dirt in your eyes to attain mercy for looking weak.

I don't think so. If I go to a computer event or conference I'm going for the computer hardware and technology. I really like Rodney's response. :D

Anonymous

Not necessary, but nice to have. Otherwise these events would be sausage parties.

I'm a man that believes in love , and I have a girlfriend myself, but I've always thought that a "booth babe" job is quite one of the most infamous jobs on earth along with table dancing and that kind of stuff, it means girls without brain and just a "nice" body are able to get easy money, I've always were against it. My opinion.

Anonymous

They arent necessary for the bussiness, but they are very needed for the beaty of the show.

Anonymous

I don't really think theyre necessary but theyre cool. Yes, I'm a dude. I love the way that Rodney stays serious for one minute in the video and then laughs.
