I use to have a Klipsch Promedia 5.1 speaker system it was awesome lots of power till the damn thing died. I don't recommend this company every one of these systems almost I hear dies in 2-3 years. So yes mine died in exactly 2 years!

But now I currently use my stereo home theater on my PC. I just decided to buy a miniplug to red/white rca adapter and hook it up to one of my video channels on the stereo. Works great even though it's a downgrade in watts compared to the old Klipsch.

I have a cheap $10 headset and some old stereo speakers. I just haven't got around to investing in some decent ones yet. But they are next on my list now that I have everything else.

Klipsch makes great systems for pc sound. Mine is 5.1 with 500 watts total, and I love it.

I use the Creative Gigaworks T40 (first series) and a pair of Creative Digital Wireless Gaming Headset HS-1200.
I usually do not put so much weight or cash in to the sound part of my computer, but it is slowly changing.

HTPC -> 3 3/8 output plug to 8 RCA input plug (It's a Creative Home Theater Cable) -> 770w Sony STR-DE898's multi-channel input -> 5.1 speaker setup with my $300 Velodyne 12" subwoofer. 5 of my speakers have a very cheap plastic feel, which can easily be broken if dropped down to the floor that is non-carpet. I do really have to get a very long wire, so that I can have a much better flexibility when it comes to placing speakers, as right now, my wires for surround speakers are too short.

Mine's more flexible than a computer speaker system, where you're limited to have only 5.1 if you originally bought yourself a 5.1 computer speaker and you wish to upgrade to 7.1. That means, you'll need a new set of computer speakers to replace your old ones. But my receiver costs $300, but the plus side is that it comes with 7.1 multi-channel input, which is very useful for Blu-Ray playback.

I can pay $40 for a pair of bookshelf speakers and move my two main speakers to the side of my living room, by turning it into a 7.1 channel speaker setup.

HTPC: AMD Athlon X2 4050e CPU with 780G ATX motherboard running Windows 8 DP (4GB) and Ubuntu; Server: AMD AII X2 240e CPU with 880G-based ATX motherboard running Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS (8GB)

2 pairs of Insignia NS-B2111s (front/rear), Pioneer SP-C21 Center Speaker, and 12" Velodyne Sub

Just ordered HP Pavilion dv7-6165us from QVC. Will have it by next Friday.

7.1 but I can not find a suitable place for the side channels. So I use them as 5.1

Still early, but I'm surprised and pleased that many have a 5.1 speaker setup :)

I can't understand why, I myself use a 2.0 setup, subwoofers distort sound and its a no-no for any audiophile. Could be good for gaming maybe but still subwoofers are annoying :P

BOSE COMPANION 5's since 07. these spkrs are wicked, especially for their size. the small subwoofer pounds like the big boys.. and your movies/music/games just sound amazing!

and they really shine with Blu-Rays movies. BD concerts, or music videos come alive too!

Bose makes it really easy to be spoiled on quality audio.. just as Blu-Ray spoils you on quality HD films.

5.1ch 8 Speaker headphones + 2.1ch Altec Lansing Expressionist Bass Series (dual woofers), not the best but it's plenty for me. No space for a full 5.1 speaker system, since this pc is in my room lol

I have no speakers at all.  Headset only.  I usually play games at night after the kids go to bed, so I don't want to wake them up.
