Bad Company 2 Slow PC Load Times Fixed

ATI has released a new driver set, the Catalyst 10.4 Preview, aimed at fixing long level load times in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for players with Radeon series 5 video cards, available in Windows 7 and Vista and Windows XP flavours from FileShack.

WoW Pet Store Adds $25 Mount

Expanding the selection of World of Warcraft's Pet Store, Blizzard today added a $25.00 "Celestial Steed" to the online marketplace.

"The Celestial Steed is the first-ever mount to be available through the service," explained Blizzard, specifying that "this supernatural warhorse will fly as fast as your riding skill will take you, and it will travel at 310% speed if you have at least one other 310% mount."

Heavy Rain Sells... One Million Copies

Quantic Dream's "adult" quick-time-tastic adventure thriller Heavy Rain has now sold over one million copies, publisher Sony has announced on the PlayStation.Blog.

The PlayStation 3 exclusive was released in North America on February 23. The first 'Heavy Rain Chronicle' downloadable content episode 'Taxidermist' was released to all and sundry on April 1 for $4.99, having previously been given free to pre-orderers. As well as further Chronicles, support for the PlayStation Move controller is in the works.

Differing Takes on Party Time, by Fallout 3 and DiRT 2

The various deals will change every Monday for the next three weeks--the promotion runs April 12 through May 9--with those that spend $75 or more at the site during that time getting $15 worth of in-store credit, usable through June 8, on May 10.

Free-to-Play Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online

Electronic Arts have launched the free-to-play, browser-based Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online. A sub-set of the game's content is available for free, with monthly ($9.99) or yearly ($59.99) subscriptions available to gain access to all of the courses. The yearly subscription includes 1500 points as a bonus.

Deadliest Warrior Preview

Spike TV's Deadliest Warrior series pits iconic warriors from different historical eras against each other in one-on-one virtual gladiatorial duels. To simulate the battles on the show they analyze the combatants in detail, examining their typical tactics and performing a battery of tests on their weaponry. The first season included matchups like Viking vs. Samurai and Pirate vs. Knight. It sounds like the setup for a videogame and sure enough, as revealed during the VGA's, it's getting a fighting game adaptation due out as a downloadable title later this year.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

A fresh batch of assets from Super Mario Galaxy 2 has arrived from Nintendo in the form of new screenshots and more artwork, with a new video serving as the cherry on top.

The highly-anticipated Wii exclusive heads to North American shops on May 23.

Battlefield 1943 Sells One Million on Xbox

Electronic Arts sends word that Battlefield 1943, DICE's downloadable multiplayer-only re-imagining of Battlefield 1942, has become the fastest selling Xbox Live Arcade title to move 1 million units since its release in July 2009.

Modern Warfare 2 Downloadable Maps

With the first downloadable add-on for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 due on Xbox 360 in under a week (Tuesday, March 30 to be exact) publisher Activision is continuing to detail its contents, this time in the form of five screenshots--one for each map.


What part of "no horseplay in the pool area" don't you kids understand?

Of those five multiplayer arenas, three (Bailout, Storm and Salvage) are new, while the other two (Crash and Overgrown) are returning from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Priced at 1200 Microsoft Points / $15, the appropriately named "Stimulus Package" will first be available on Xbox 360, with PC and PlayStation 3 releases to follow.

The Secret World Teaser

Several new screenshots, some new pieces of artwork and a brief teaser trailer mark the latest update from Funcom on its mystical but modern-day MMO The Secret World. Packing "no classes or levels" and development for both PC and Xbox 360, The Secret World has yet to receive a solid release window. That said, beta sign-ups are still open, and a longer version of the below trailer is slated to debut Thursday, March 25.
