"A suicide bomber's plan to detonate explosives in Central Moscow on New Year's Eve was foiled when she received an unexpected spam text message that caused her deadly payload to blow up too early. A message wishing her a happy new year came hours before the unnamed woman was to set off her suicide belt near Red Square, an act of terrorism that could have killed hundreds of people.
"Mercury News reports that Google announced this week that it would hire at least 6,000 workers in 2011. If it hits that number, 2011 will be the second biggest year for new hires in the history of Google. The company also says that about 2,000 of those new hires will be in and around its Bay Area HQ in California."

"Boffins fed up with people getting their kit off on chat sites have developed a new algorithm that will allow sites to nip the nudity in the bud. Video chat services such as Chatroulette which randomly link the webcams of people who visit the site have been doing well but it has been plagued by people who want to show their genitals... Now Xinyu Xing at the University of Colorado at Boulder and a few pals have come up with a "flasher detection" algorithm that spots the offenders, allowing them to be kicked out.
"Once in, he would change the account password -- locking out his victim -- and search for any racy photographs. If he found any, he posted them to the victim's Facebook profile. Of the 3,200 accounts he broke into, Bronk found nude or semi-nude photos in 172 of them, prosecutors said. In one case he persuaded a victim to send him even more explicit photographs by threatening to post the ones he'd stolen if she didn't. Bronk faces six years in prison on felony hacking, child pornography and identity theft charges.
