More people read news online

"More people now access their news via the Internet as by the traditional route of reading a printed newspaper. UK media regulator Ofcom said that in its News Consumption in the UK report that 41 per cent of the public accesses news via the web and mobile apps, compared to 40 per cent who read printed newspapers. To be fair newspaper publishers will take comfort from the fact that the percentage of print readers has remained stable over the past year but the proportion accessing news digitally has increased sharply from 32 per cent in the last 12 months." [Read More]

Trolls are sadists and psychos

"A new study carried out in Canada has revealed what most internet junkies knew already – trolls are sick.

The study found that one in twenty internet users deliberately engage in trolling. They exhibit classic traits of sadism, psychopathy, narcissism and Machievellianism. The study was published in ScienceDirect and it covered 1,215 people.

Unsurprisingly it found that those who identified themselves as trolls were sadistic, as they enjoyed to watching their victims suffer. They were also willing to manipulate people and many simply lacked empathy."

UK ISPs Say No To Mandatory Porn Censorship

"UK ISPs told David Cameron's adviser that they will not ban porn by default to prevent the sexualisation of children.

Claire Perry announced that by 2014 UK ISPs would require customers wishing to access adult content to "opt out". The Tory MP also told a conference the filters should be flexible enough to be turned off - for a limited time. The default setting would then return.

Nicholas Lansman, secretary general of trade association ISPA, which represents the UK's net suppliers, said that Perry’s comments were a bit premature."

Many Gamers Would Rather Try A New Game Than Have Sex

The remaining 19 percent are undecided and they say it depends on the game. The survey polled 1,442 Brits and found that 30 percent of them believe their partners would not expect them to turn down sex over a game..."
