When this story broke I was considering buying my first Apple product. I bought a 'droid instead. If this is so bad (and I think it is) then vote with your wallet. Then email apple and say "I not buying your product because..." I have emailed them and am still awaiting a reply...

My cousin and aunt worked in a battery factory. That was even worse, according to her, they had to handle all the chemicals without breathing protection or skin protection.

My aunt has some heavy metal poisoning now, even 15 years after getting out. Luckily my cousin only worked for under a year. She actually made her own internet start-up and is doing quite well.

These work conditions are truly, truly horrid. People are treated worse than even the poorest dogs in the US. However, especially for the very poor farming families, those factories are better than home because at least, workers are given a bowl of rice.

that is really sad these big corporations are horrible the corporate heads should be forced to live like that for a month and see how it feels

FIRST of all, it is Illegal in the States to pay less than 7.25!(China doesnt have laws like we do) 2nd, THEY DONT GET PAID OT!!!! REPEAT, they dont Get paid OT! if we worked as hard as they do with 98hrs of OT EVEN WORKING AT MickyD's, your STILL looking at a FAT Wallet. They get paid less than we do while workin at a Fast food resturant. TO me, this IS Slavery! so go ahead and laugh off your 18hr shift, YOUR GETTING PAID.

Moove jobs to america? Who would work for 5 or 50 bucks a week in america? Hell no, too lazy. Even if it is horrible work conditions i dont see a lack of employers, tons of people are waiting in lines to get such a job. 12 hours a day, this is not that bad, i jused to work 18 hours a day 7 days a week if needed and that was not as bad as you might think. Job does not make you suicidal, relationship between employer and emploee might, people are just too cruel to each ather.

This is truly sad, and it really makes me think about how our technological demands here in the west have an adverse effect on other parts of the world. African countries being pillaged of their minerals, and people at this plant KILLING THEMSELVES because that is the better option to them in a life that is cruel. I find it odd that they even made people sign that, unless they are trying to cover their asses. It makes me think of the virginity pledge some girls signed in high school, only to break it immediately or go off and do some oral or anal sex, these pledges are laughable.

That's absolute disgraceful and cruel, if they kill themselves it's obvious their treated badly or are working too hard in 'bad conditions'.

I've been exploited for a month, working 16h per day for 30 days on a Celebrity Cruises slave ship, oh my bad sorry, cruise ship, for like $1.200/month. Which is why I quit my job, however I lost a lot of money getting that job and flying to USA, and I only made $1.200 so basically I paid $500 to work for free for a month. So yeah, I know it sucks bad, but in China I think it even sucks more. For a small number of people to live extraordinary a lot of other people need to die working. The world is a stupid place to live.
