"Lying on his family room floor with assault weapons trained on him, shouts of "pedophile!" and "pornographer!" stinging like his fresh cuts and bruises, the Buffalo homeowner didn't need long to figure out the reason for the early morning wake-up call from a swarm of federal agents. That new wireless router. He'd gotten fed up trying to set a password. Someone must have used his Internet connection, he thought."

Where I live, the police couldn't care less about what you're doing. Even their internet site was hacked and they never found the hacker. And in USA apparently you'll go to jail if you download illegal content or whatever. The world is a funny place.

I've almost gave up on a Linksys router a year ago. So I can imagine someone less understanding of tech gear to give up and not set a password. I just recently bought myself a Neatgear wireless router for my birthday and what I find disturbing is that by default the wireless is turned on and unprotected.
