Blu-ray will probably be around a bit longer than Microsoft would like, but with external HD's and Internet, who needs an optical disk anyways?

"I think people may have spoken about that originally, but that's long gone," |McGill said. "I think people now recognize what a smart decision it was to keep the pricing low, and actually Blu-ray is going to be passed by as a format. People have moved through from DVDs to digital downloads and digital streaming, so we offer full HD 1080p Blu-ray quality streaming instantly, no download, no delay. So, who needs Blu-ray?" | more

stop being short sided microsoft...if when a new xbox comes out and there won't be any optical drive then it will fail...even sony's latest PSP Go, they said themselves that the market isn't ready for digital DL contents ONLY...blu-ray is good for gaming, look at uncharted 2 on PS3 as an example, it can hold so much textures at high quality samples, you can store so much data on a blu-ray compared to DVD...this isn't about your pride microsoft, it's obvious that you won't integrate a blu-ray on your next xbox cause it would be like a clear message "sony owned you" but you can't make a new console without any optical drive yet, it's crazy!
Even i like to buy a nice blu-ray movie, the fact that it has alot of contents and features made me stop downloading movies, it's getting cheap and sometimes you got bargain deals that are even cheaper than DVDs
Stop holding off the industry by making it personal...

I have a gaming PC and all gaming consoles and it definately doens't get you laid!
