It's day one and Halo Reach is out. What are your thoughts about this game? Some people felt it was way to short.

"I thought the controls and feedback had been beefed up nicely, there was plenty of variety and the pacing of it was really good. Very, very short though. I had read it was an 8 - 10 hour campaign, but for me to finish it in 3 evenings after a working day (I was working over the weekend) means that it was nowhere near that length. It felt like about 5 or 6 hours long tops..." | more

IMO Halo: Reach felt too much like the first Halo. The gameplay was essentially the same, but just with a new storeline and better graphics.

I never thought I would say this, but Bungie needs to give the Halo series a rest. They have beatin' this dead horse far too long.

My impressions with the first 30 minutes of playing were generally favorable...

...until I tried to have the AI drive the warthog while I gunned. She apparently could not figure out how to go anywhere but in a circle. I realize pathing is fairly difficult to code, but I would think something like this would be fairly important to get to work.

Also, when the ending cinematic is supposed to play after you kill something in the second level (don't want to give too much away), nothing happened for me. I looked at a couple different sources, but I couldn't figure out what to do. It may just be that after 6 hours of debugging, my brain is too fried to come up with the simple solution required in that situation.

Overall, though, I am happy that this seems to be more than a glorified expansion. Hopefully, the issues I experienced were user error and not catastrophic bugs.

I dont have an account there, so I will comment here instead.

I think it is great. Its not the best game in the world, but it is enjoyable to play.
