Paying for game servers is nothing new to most PC players, but Dedicated Black Ops servers will cost PC users some dough. But at least we have the options that we asked for and that's better than no options at all. Man I'm so ready to play this game!

"Black Ops players on the PC will have dedicated servers to play on, but apparently Activision has ripped a page out of the Electronic Arts playbook and has moved to a server provider model, which will see as the exclusive provider of servers (both ranked and unranked) for Black Ops. The news hit today that is already starting to take pre-orders for servers both ranked and unranked. In the U.S. players will be able to get a ranked Black Ops server for $14.95 per month or an unranked Black Ops server for .99 cents per slot with a 24-slot max." | more

Like the other guy said it's the cost for the server only. So if your Clan or Guild hosts a dedicated server it will cost some money for the host but not to the players.

I sleep fine at night knowing we are banning people who deserve it.  Tivon

the cost of the server only applies to those who are owning the server/administrating it. To join a server will of course be free CoD does not have a subscription model (though im sure theyre trying to dream one up, activisions CEO is a greedy asshole in all of his interviews)

I think servers should be free. Is the game $70 (which is too much by the way), or is it $70 + $15 + $15 + $15 + $15 + $15 + $15 + $15 + $15 + $15 + $15? Because I don't think I'll pay $500 for a COD7BO multiplayer experience, BUT THAT'S JUST ME :)

not too bad....
