I was working away here this afternoon and everything started to shake. Thankfully it wasn't a lot, but enough to notice. This is very odd for central Canada and the first I've experienced or at least the first that I noticed. I wasn't sure at first because it was so small, but I just got confirmation from my wife who works at a Toronto Hospital. Hospitals are one of the first places that are notified of incidents like this, so that's why she knows so quickly.

Sitting here waiting for the aftershock....

UPDATE: Apparently it was a 5.5, for more info, click here

For everyone asking if I'm ok, please watch the video below:

I live in Gatineau. Neighbor city of Ottawa. My house shook really hard for a good 30 sec. The plates and glasses in the kitchen cabinets were clashing together loudly. Parked car in the street were swaying back and forth and so on.

But that was the very first earthquake that I noticed. Usually, I have to be told by someone else that there was an earthquake here in Canada. But I certainly did noticed the last one. At first tough that it might be due to a powerful dynamiting operation in a construction site nearby. But it wasn't stopping. That is when I realized. Earthquake in Canada are so rare that when one do happen, people usually don't realize it very quickly.

As an anonymous person stated here in Ottawa, it was crazy.  My apartment building was shaking and you could see the ground rumbling. It felt as though there was a huge jetliner crashing, but the sound was much deeper and didn't have the whine of turbines. It was kind of cool but unsettling at the same time, oh and my cat was freaking out to no end.

If oil ends up in my front yard because of a hurricane I better jump on the bandwagon and get some of the BP money.

It was confirmed that the earthquake's magnitude went 5.5 or 5.0 at June 23, 2010. So thankfully, the Canadian are safe.  It's just a small earthquake.

I was in my bed sleeping when all of a sudden at 1:41 PM EST the bed started shaking for about 10 seconds...pretty scary, haven't experienced anything like it and when I turned on the news everyone was talking about an earthquake.

I was working too hard scooping ice cream to realize it hit! Apparently everyone else I know felt it. I live in Northern Michigan.

I was just sitting in my basement in Scarborough... (btw Rodney, I honestly didn't know you lived here in TO)...playing Xbox, then I felt everything start moving. My first thought was earthquake, then my second thought was "Hey, I feel like Jello". Really, that's actually how I felt.

I also felt the Earthquake. I live in Toronto (etobicoke) but work in Markham and we felt it there. The tower crane started to shake and sway and the huge panel it was lifted was going out of whack! The crane was also beeping like crazy which is obvious signs of overload and warning signals.

Very weird experience...

I didn't really feel the Earthquake. My dad told me the earthquake started when I closed the garage. I guess while I was biking or getting on to my bike, I didn't really feel that much of a shake. I live in Markham.

Waterloo Ontario - My monitors started swaying back and forth and I thought my music was too loud. I turned it off and the monitors were still swaying. Very strange feeling.

Hey, I'm from ottawa ontario and the earthquake was strong. I heard it started in Maniwaki Quebec. Which is about 1 hour and 45 mins from my place. And it was around a 5.5. My house shook really hard for about 20-35 seconds.
