Nvidia Corporation has published the following on its PhysX FAQ: "Can I use an NVIDIA GPU as a PhysX processor and a non-NVIDIA GPU for regular display graphics? No. There are multiple technical connections between PhysX processing and graphics that require tight collaboration between the two technologies. To deliver a good experience for users, NVIDIA PhysX technology has been fully verified and enabled using only NVIDIA GPUs for graphics."

this is funny: "NVIDIA has reportedly removed the driver-level code which restricts users from having an NVIDIA GeForce GPU process PhysX with an ATI Radeon GPU in the lead, processing graphics. Version 257.15 Beta of the GeForce drivers brought about this change. Possible commercial interests may have played NVIDIA's previous decision to prevent the use of GeForce GPUs to process PhysX with ATI Radeon GPUs, where users could buy an inexpensive GeForce GPU to go with a high-end DirectX 11 compliant Radeon GPU, thereby reducing NVIDIA's margins, though officially NVIDIA maintained that the restriction was in place to ensure Quality Assurance. The present move also seems to have commercial interests in mind, as NVIDIA could clear inventories of GeForce GPUs at least to users of ATI Radeon GPUs. NVIDIA replenished its high-end offering recently with the DirectX 11 compliant GeForce 400 series GPUs."

Just another "Can't do" from Nvidia. Hmmm.. Apple and Flash, Sony and Linux... Interesting how so many large corporations would rather say no and be excluded from the buyers choice. What's to stop the consumer from buying the superior ATI cards and forget about the over-rated Nvidia PhysX? Wouldn't they rather have people buy their Nvidia cards regardless of what they do with it? This reminds me of when Nvidia was a starting company and they beat the Voodoo cards. 3dfx said things like, "You don't need more than 16-bit colors.." "You don't need more than 30 fps.." and what did the people buy? Yup, Nvidia cards. Now it's Nvidia's turn to die a slow death. Having alienated themselves from the major players because of their CEO and now pointless crippled drivers.

It's a shame they are going to fail; we shale miss you Nvidia.crying

I sleep fine at night knowing we are banning people who deserve it.  Tivon

you dont need hacked drivers, just use the older physX drivers before they disabled using an ATI gpu for rendering.

What about these so called "Hacked" drivers?

Its is possible, just use the older drivers.  anyway PhysX is shit. I like Nvidia as a company less and less each day even if their GPUs are ok.

This isnt typical, this was never impossible when phys-x was on its own dedicated pci / pci-express 1x card.

This worked perfectly fine, I know i had a stand alone phys x card back in the day. This became impossible my nvidia when they purchased phys-x and their IP.

Once nvidia purchased the hardware of course it became impossible they crippled the phys-x drivers to function that way. So they could have it a exclusive nvidia tool and make additional money.
