I think it'd be cool to make music that could rely on cores more than performance, but it's good to have performance when it comes to audio tracks and software synthesizers. Squeezing the best performance out of it does not mean that the number of cores must be sacrificed.

One core is like a tool for monkeys.. but someday these chips with have millions and millions of cores and they will be like little cyborg brains implanted into us at birth to help regulate our living experience.

Windows 7 can support up to 256 cores. Makes you think about what they have behind closed doors.
