Ok, SO I had to re-install the Operating System on a Laptop for someone, but I cannot get the wireless drivers to work for the life of me. It's an HP G series G72-C55DX. I called in to HP to their customer support but they don't know their ass from their elbows, I called on 3 different occasions for help and not a single one could help me. So, do you guys think you could help me figure out what wireless driver I need to install, and how to get it working?
Here's a link to all the wireless drivers, I've installed one, and it didn't work so I uninstalled it, but now I just am not sure what to do.
I'd really appreciate it if you guys could help me out.
Try installing an older version and see if you can later find an updated one. Also, try checking the wireless adapter's website for drivers.
That's a Broadcom wireless unit in that model. I searched through HP and cannot find a WiFi driver anywhere on their site... which is not really that big of a surprise.
This driver should work for that part (listed for the model number): http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDownload/HP-G72-c55DX-Notebook-Broadcom-WLAN-Driver-56035011-for-Windows-7-Download-153723.html
HP can be clueless when you start using a direct installed OS rather than their pre-build image. In their tech support pages, they assume you are using the factory image (as it was sold with the hardware), and in truth removing that image changes the machine configuration and therefore their ability to support it.
Anyway, hopefully the link works for you.
thanks a lot, you really helped me out there man.
typing now from the laptop on wireless
