Hey guys, so here's my situation. I've always used windows mail, to store my emails in. Well not that long time ago my computer had crash and I had to do a clean OS install to get everything back up and running and now when I start up Windows Mail, its not showing me all my emails from the past.. only the ones I had left on my Yahoo Mail. What sucks is that, once I start Windows Mail, what was on yahoo mail, wont be there anymore.. but where did all my messages go if I had in Windows Mail.
Let me get this straight: So you've been using Windows Mail with your Yahoo mail account over POP3/IMAP? You deleted mails from Yahoo, but because Windows Mail saves to the HDD, they were still there? Now that you've reinstalled Windows (and formatted the HDD, I assume) you can't find your E-Mails anymore?
Well, if the E-Mails were only saved in Windows Mail and deleted from Yahoo, they are gone after formatting the hard drive. Yahoo should have an option for either deleting mails from Yahoo after downloading them through POP3/IMAP, or keeping them.
If they are gone from Yahoo Mail, then you won't be able to recover them (unless they're in Trash or something like that).
Because you reinstalled windows I think you are out of luck. Chances are the way your email application was setup it was downloading the emails to your computer and deleting them off the email providers server. Your Yahoo emails are there because it did not delete them off the Yahoo servers or it left a copy.
Try using Gmail, I've never had any luck with Microsoft emails.
Ah I guess guys are right, I thought they were actually stored into Windows Mail and stayed there forever. Ya thats exactly what it does, it gets my mails off from Yahoo, and I can't any longer see em on Yahoo. I mean there was never a option where I saw you can disable that.
