Basically I've had this problem for quite a while now

Firefox will freeze and the window will go white and not responding then will come back to how it was before and i can continue. But this is really irritating sometimes it freezes for just a few seconds, other times it freezes for longer. I've tried deleting my history, cookies and cache etc. And also tried disabling all my add-ons and plug-ins, but it still freezes can anyone help? I don't want to be forced to use another browser as I despise IE8 and I don't really like Chrome

HELP!!!!!

Is firefox up to date?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

Try updating/reinstalling flash, java and other associated applications.

Its actually firefox, they threw it out there with out fully fixing all the bugs in it, switch to a older version of firefox, just remember if you install a old version you will have to go into settings and turn off auto update.

I've had the same issue and that's the only solution I could get to work. You can get a older version from here http://www.oldversion.com and download the 6.0.2 build, remember to backup your bookmarks.

it could of been a problem with Sync

I was gonna say, remove all add-ons first. This might help others: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/872283?page=3#answer-254348

BTW: I'm using FireFox 8 with no issues.

Firefox 8 is a beta release as of the timing of this post. The latest version is 7.0.1. Mozilla has released many different revisions in the recent months.
