this pertains to MP3's.
since 2011 iv been making a compilation of all of my friends music. I take all their music and put it on my external drive in their own folders with their names so i know whos music it is.. well I have a few folders already. My problem is I want to make 1 folder with ALL the music on it from each folder but without having duplicates. in other words like a shortcut of each song from each folder all in one place, but there is a catch.

I also want to be able to drag and drop these files into another drive and it copy the songs to the drive and not the shortcut.

I guess im looking for something that re-routs all of the files instead of make copies or it dragging shortcuts to the new drive.

Any help at all would be awesome!

This person is in a serious relationship with technology <3

Isn't it illegal to have copies of music you do not own?
Or did I missunderstood and you have the music your friends make (not somebody else) with their permition?

Not everyone can have a computer Mari, I know people that get others to load their music on to their mp3 players.

The best way to manage duplicates and cut down on space being taken up by the music would be to make playlists for each person.

Yes, its illegal but i dont distribute. Im the "tech geek" of the group. I store all my friends music just in case they loose theirs (its happen before)along with their personal photos and videos. One of my friends recently had a virus on his moms computer (the one he uses for his ipod touch) it whipped out EVERYTHING. they had it fixed but his mom refuses to let him use it as she swears the virus is due to his "perverseness" if you know what i mean lol. So I also help him manage his files. Im kinda like the "bank", the only one with enough free storage space to help every one out and the only one willing to dish out $100+ for a stand alone drive lol.

HellBlazer,
Playlists in like windows media player and itunes? Ill need to have my computer as the middle man if i want to transfer files that way wouldnt I?
