Well, I got a Corsair H50, so I thought I'd start overclocking my CPU.
I got a Core i5 750 at 2.67Ghz running idle at 36C. My motherboard is an Asus P7P55D Deluxe, and I cant find any guides to this specific line of motherboards. My power supply is 700w (rest of build in signature). What would be a safe start? And how do I actually overclock?
Thanks to all the helpers.
overclock CPU
Say you want 3400MHz
Calculate BCLK:
3400/20=170
Calculate Memory "1333MHz":
1333/170=7,8=8
BCLKx8=170x8=1360MHz
Select DRAM DDR3-1360
Memory multiplier:
UNCOREx2=8x2=16
BCLKxUNCORE=170x16=2720
Select UCLK 2720
QPI:
UNCORE/QPI=8/9 "QPI 18(36)"
BCLKxQPI=170x36=6120MHz
Note:Turn off turbobust!
Note:
Go to http://www.asus.com/entryflash.htm
And search Asus-forum for more info about voltage and OC settings for youre motherbord and CPU. You have to set voltage manualy or you might damage youre system, runing anyting out of specs is a risk business!
Note:
It is critical that you add to youre cooling capacity for bouth CPU and MOBO, overheating can damage youre system!
TEST1:
Set CPU back to 12
Memtest
http://www.memtest.org/
If test 1 is OK..
Test2:
Set CPU back to 20
Prime95 (8 hours)

I take no responsibility for YOUR actions!!!
Take care
didn't get any of that lol. i was just asking for basic advice on what should i raise, and by how much. For example, per every how much MHz of FSB should I raise the voltage. And when should I start testing the CPU - Even after raising a low amount of FSB?
You can`t raise the voltage more than the spesifid limits of youre CPU and MOBO and/or the cooling capacity of youre system. This will determine the limit of youre OC.
Your goal is to find the absolute minimum voltage to keep system stable and cool.
You need to do some research on this topic youre self. Pleas visit asus forum for more info.
