Love your web site,
I am going to setup a new system and i have doubts regarding the Motherboard,
I am willing to pay up to 500$ for a good motherboard,
Everybody tells me to wait for the Asus Rampage Extreme 3,
Do you have any suggestions for a high end motherboard?
For that kind of money, if you're looking for an X58 board, check out the EVGA Classified 4-way SLI. You'd be able to SLI 4 GTX 285s on that thing.
Making a motherboard decision is the hardest thing to do. I had trouble finding the right one for me. First you have to set a tight budget and then a little bit of overspill. For example, a 300 dollar budget with a 75 dollar overspill. Next, try to limit your choices to either 3 specific motherboards or two companies. I limited my choices to Asus and eVGA. Lastly, compare all the motherboards that interest you and fit your needs. Are you really going to use SLi or Crossfire? Do you need USB 3.0 support? How many USB connectors do you want? Do you want wi-fi built in? You should ask yourself all of these questions when looking. Just remember that there is no rush and it should be a fun learning experience. Rodney will be able to point you in the right direction, but you should do the research and read the reviews about each motherboard.
Thanks for the answers guys,
I want to build a pc that can be modified and upgraded so i think that if im looking like a year in advance - I should have both the USB 3 and the new SATA.
I did limit myself to 2 motherboards,
ASUS EXTREME RAMPAGE 3
ASUS P6X58D-Premium SATA6G Motherboard
The question remains should i bother waiting for the Extreme Rampage to release or the ASUS P6X58D-Premium SATA6G Motherboard is good enough?
The new Rampage III Extreme would be better but the P6X58D is better value for the money.
Why would you ever need to sli 4 video cards?
The most would be two but 3 and 4 is over doing it.
Just a Waste of Money if you ask me.
