hey guys, i hate to do this but i have to admit i know nothing about this stuff.. i understand software coding pretty well...but hardware i know about as much as a household cat.
current build.

i want to upgrade the cpu so i can work with 3d modeling more effectively.

AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0ghz
4GB DDR 3
Asus m5a78l-mlx
500GB hard drive
zotac geforce GTX 460 768M pcie video card
Silverstone HTPC case grandia
Psu is a rosewill 380 watt high efficiency model

this is the cpu i want to put in, it is compatible with my mobo (sweet...)
>> AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8GHz Six-Core ($149.99)

but here is the problem... is my PsU enough to power this machine?? i read that the higher the ghz the more energy it will need, but the x6 has a lower ghz than the athlon.
if i would need to replace the PsU how much would it cost? replacing the case is not an option due to the size i like. i have around 200 bucks to play with on this, and i plan on buying from microcenter since there is no shipping cost. (not much i know.. but college doesn't pay itself..neither does food bills, mortgage, internet..etc lol)

380W is cutting it too close for your system. Go with a 500W.

Upgrading the PSU is the first thing you should do. Newegg actually has 15% off and 20% off power supplies just today, so take a look at some of those deals.
