Motherboard Upgrade and ram

Hey ppl, i got a question and would love a answer.
i have a AM2 motherboard and want to upgrade to the new AM3s wondering if i can still use the DDR2 with the new AM3 mobos that have DDR3.just wondering if its possible?

Yes, AM3 boards can use either DDR2 or DDR3 because both are integrated onto the AM3 CPU's memory controller.

For stability, it's recommended to use identical memory modules throughout.
