I'm currently searching the market for a new motherboard that'll take my current cpu but every time I search the motherboard's compatibility CPU list my CPU's exact OPN number is not listed, though up to four other versions of my CPU is listed all have the same speed, the only difference between the one I'm currently using and the ones they have listed is cache sizes I think, apart from that I can't find a difference,
Should I take the chance anyways and buy a motherboard that lists different versions of my CPU or should I continue to search for a motherboard that lists the exact model number as my CPU?

Added info.
My current CPU is a AMD3 Phenom II X4 3.0 GHz 945e OPN: HDX945WFGMBOX
I'm trying to shop for a new motherboard that'll take my current CPU plus AMD3+ for later upgrading, also be able to do crossfire.

Additional Question.
If I do buy a motherboard that list different version of my Current CPU and attempt to use my current cpu in it, what are the chances of things not working/what exactly might happen/could happen?
The manufacturer site should have a list of compatible CPUs for each board. Some older boards may require you to update the BIOS in order to use newer CPUs. Be sure the board and BIOS revision is compatible with the CPU otherwise you could damage the board, CPU, or both.
Thats your processor, so look for anything with (HDX945WFK4DGM),3.0GHz,2048KB,95W,rev.C3,SocketAM3,Quad-Core on the compatibility list. Im hoping anything ive looked into is correct but if worse come to worse and you get a mobo that dont work with the processor, most places are more than happy to exchange or refund.

Hm, well the box that the CPU came in has the numbers HDX945WFGMBOX, so that's the code I was looking for in the compatibility lists for the motherboard and never found it, does the code on the box differ from the one on the cpu it self or, I didn't even know the cpu it self had a code on it heh.
The code you listed I did find on the mobo I'm going to get tomorrow.
yes the box code is different, heres mine http://products.amd.com/en-us/DesktopCPUDetail.aspx?id=726&f1=&f2=&f3=&f4=&f5=&f6=&f7=&f8=&f9=&f10=&f11=&f12=
on the box is says HDE00ZFBGRBOX but the processor is HDE00ZFBK6DGR which is printed on top of the processor.

Ah, I guessed that, that was the case, is there any way or program to get that code with out having to take off your/my heatsink to get it or?
I have PC Wizard but I couldn't find anything on that program that told me of any such code.
the only way besides taking off the heatsink is to look it up which I have already done in the previous post but here is the link again.
