Is Intel i7 980x and GTX480 good investments?

Hi Rodney.

I want to ask if the Intel i7 980x is a good investment for a future processor.. I mean, will it last 3-4 years before it gets "too old", and is it even needed for gaming, game development etc.? Also the same question for the GTX480, should I buy it, or should I wait untill ATIs (or nVidias) next move?

1) Not worth it unless you need extreme CPU hexacore preformance, otherwise just save yourself $700 and get a 930

2) GTX 480 isn't worth buying imo because it uses the older GF100 architecture which was why it caused heat and power consumption issues
