best cpu for this oldish motherboard?

hey ppl

i have a oldish motherboard currently with a amd athlon 2600+ 1.9ghz processor 

i want to upgrade the processor but am finding it hard to find a processor that will fit this motherboard wich is better that the 2600+ all i can really find is the amd 3200+ processor wich is ok i guess but i was wondering if there is a better 1

No point in upgrading...time for a new build. That thing is ancient.

you really should ditch that 462 and go for something with AM2+ atleast.

then you can try the rediculously low priced but pretty fast Athlon 7750 that i have. i think its priced at $60 USD right now

is that the  AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Black Edition processor ?

what type of motherboard would you reccomend ? 

i was thinking of getting a motherboard and processor bundle that has a triple core

yes thats the processor.

i would try either a 785G or a 790XT

of course your going to have to upgrade to DDR2 ram also since the socket 642 is only DDR
