I was looking into plugging my xbox 360 into my lcd monitor and I had a quick question. I have a dvi-d port on my monitor and I wondered if it was possible to take the dvi to hdmi adapter that comes with many video cards these days and plug that into my monitor, and then plug the hdmi from the xbox into the adapter on the monitor and get the video that way?
honestly im not sure, id say yes but then again it depends on the monitor manugfacture. HDMI and DVI are both digital so there shouldnt be a problem there and no signal is directional dependent on the cable. you can always hook it up and try, it wont blow up or anything.all the adapter does is change the end pin array theres nothign special. there like changing the nossle on a garden hose (in lamans terms)
is the dvi port an input or an output for another display? check you manual.
it's an input for this display
than it should by all intensive purposes work.
Yep should work fine but Unless monitor has sound(usually junk) dvi-d would be the same quality
Well im pretty sure ive heard that DVI and HDMI are excactly the same signal, and only the shape of the plug is different, wether or not its true im not sure. But ive seen alot of people with xbox's on LCD screens, and im sure they use a dvi-hdmi adapter
