I am looking for a good sound card. I want something that will make my music sound great. I want the bass to have kick to it; I want everything to stand out. Heavy metal on onboard audio doesn't cut it. I want something that has a lot more bang for the buck.
I run the 64 bit version of Windows 7, so I want a card that will run with that. I am not going to downgrade my rig to Windows XP just so I can enjoy music the way it was meant to be heard.
I don't want something that will cost me $250, but I am prepared to spend a lot. I am willing to go up to $150.
For $150 you can get one heck of an awesome sound card-

Creative labs is the primo in regards to sound cards and this is one of if not their very best cards. Only thing newegg got better than this is the $200 champion-I would check ebay for some price comparisons first though.
ASUS Xonar series are really good. i have the DX1. simply put: amazing!
Check out the Auzen X-Fi Forte 7.1
creative has never let me down. the X-Fi titanium is truly amazing.
i am currently running a sound blaster audigy SE and sound quality is fantastic, you can hear everything you could imagine, and the card is POWERFUL, i can max out all bass amplifications that i have and the card does not distort, only downfall is its an older model card so its not vista compatible
Yo-the X-fi Champion just went on sale at newegg for $150-$50 off/25% off-might wanna go check it out
