Well my CPU has finally come in the mail but according to the cpu support list for my motherboard, I need to update my bois but I've never updated a bois before and on the page to download the update, there is a long list of updates for all kinds of thing that all nearly sound like their doing the same thing, so its a little confusing, plus it warns not to update unless you have to more or less and they say, if you screw it up, oh well your fault,
So um yeah, what do I do and what one do I download, here is the info and the link to the page for the update.
Okay My motherboard is the Azza 990FX Extreme3
here is the download link area, http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/990FX%20Extreme3/?cat=Download
Oh and I'm running Windows 7 64 bit
According to the support list, it supports my new cpu after version P1.30, I checked my motherboard bois and its running P1.00 so I need to update it heh.
ftp://174.142.97.10/bios/AM3+/990FX%20Extreme3(1.50)WIN.zip. not sure that'll work but IM on my atrix 4g so its going to have to! :p

No it didn't work, 404 page not found.
Also I need to know what one to download AND how I install it, is it as simple as an exe double licking or do I use a usb storage thing and update it in the bois or?
I'm guessing I want to download one of the top 3 it lists 1.50 version, there just three ways to update the bois right?
would make sense I'm guessing the Instant Flash option is to use a usb storage device, it does say how to by clicking the little red plus symbol before clicking where to download from,
Of course I'm not sure I'm right about the whole the three choices for version 1.50 is just three ways to update boi's sense in one of the how to reads it says to close any and all programs because it might screw with the updating and updating through a usb storage device through the bois would be the safer choice sense other programs haven't gotten the chance to run yet so yeah, am I understanding this right?
Windows version.1.50 updating BIOS is so much easier, i hated the days of floppy flashing! It's usually an exe it runs and then it restarts! Its beautiful
I went ahead and did the Instant Flash way and I guess I did it right cause the boi updated I have the FX-3850 in and running, already did some benchmarking and heh, my cpu score nearly doubled in both tests, actually in one it did heh.
Though it did give me a scare, at first, after I had just installed the new cpu and plugged every thing in, the fans and lights would turn on but nothing else, no screen no mouse, no keyboard, I turned it off and on a couple of times by the third time I pulled the side panel off and wiggled the two power cords to the motherboard and bam, monitor lit up and every thing, still, scared me there for a moment or two heh.
Thanks for the help!
Instant Flash is so awesome! On the AM3(+) boards this is extra nice because you can install an unsupported CPU, and still have enough functionality to update the BIOS and bring the support level up. Installing Windows without the BIOS installed often is a nightmare, but Instant Flash doesn't have the issues!
