when I put my pc in sleep mode and take it right back out, it's fine, but when I take it out after a long period, it endlessly power cycles and I have to reset my pc to which when it comes back on, it says "restoring windows". Is this an overclock problem?
On some computers if you overclock and push the FSB speeds to high it will fail coming out of sleep mode. You can try raising the north bridge and memory voltages and see if that helps. If there is no improvement with voltages then try lowering the overclocks until the problem goes away. Alot of us overclockers don't use sleep mode because of these issues. If you need a faster boot time, just upgrade your main hard drive to an SSD.
Also, update your BIOS and see if that helps.
