Let me start from the start, this is on my mid-end media center PC, it has a AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Windsor, and was using a stock cooler on it, I decided to get a new cooler to lower my temps down a bit. I installed the new cooler and everything went fine, about 10 mins after running the fan stop working, I got the blue screen CPU fan failed as should have, and computer shut down, I wait til the next morning to put my old cooler back on, and everything is working fine, problem is every time i boot up the computer I get
"Error: System Fan Has Failed!
Service PC to prevent damage to the system.
press to continue
I press F2 everything works, fine, now here is the thing, every fan in my machine is working, CPU, GPU, PSU, and case fans all work, what could be causing this and how do I fix it?
I had a similar problem with a Dell computer. I fixed it by going into the BIOS and clearing its 'Event log'.
Try clearing the CMOS by removing the battery for a few minutes. You might need to replace the battery if it's been a few years. The new cooling might pull too much power from the motherboard. How is the new cooler plugged in, Molex or Motherboard fan pins? If the new cooler is plugged into the Motherboard it might try to speed control the fan and that is why it's failing. Plug it into the Molex coming from the PSU and adjust the Motherboard as need to ignore the lack of a CPU cooler.
The new cooler is RMA, using the stock one that came with the CPU now, but its plugged in a 3 pin on the mobo. and thanks for the fast replies
So I applied my patches & tried to access my system menu & It says "System menu files are corrupted". How do I fix that error?
