is the x4 965 really just a over clocked version of the 955? or is it really standardly better than the 955? or should i just get the 6 core? the t1055 x6. i could have sworn i saw SOMEONE in here, i don't know exactly who.. i think his name started with a "T" and his name bar was blue... sheesh, i just guess i cant think up of the name, either way, i swear he was swearing up and down in post after post that having the 6core is just flat out better to have.

( mind you i play games, have a browser going, and even have 3d modeling programs like blender running while i have music playing, all at the same time sometimes even. so multitasking is a must for me)

so to put it in a nutshell, 955, 965, or 1055. whats better for ME
(Intel is tempting, but i'm not asking about Intel now am i.)

Now as for the Ati or Nvidia, i'm stuck between the 5830 and the 460. i'm sort of leaning more toward the 5830, i currently have a nvida, and damn those things get hot. and the 460 doesn't have a back exhaust like the ati, ( or that i have noticed.) meaning that it will blow hot air in my case. and may possibly circulate it around other components. and iv heard that even later more new nvidia cards get hotter, ( and state that they are stable to 105 C* ) and honestly, even if it was stable at 105, i sure as hell don't want to see a card even get near that.

But in all honesty, its not fair of me to judge a product by just its cooling capabilities. so please enlighten me on which i should choose, and why. and don't just tell me that "NVIDIA IS WAY BETTER MAN, DON'T EVEN LOOK AT ATI" and then proceed without telling me any proper reasonings why.

thank you in advance,

i have heard rumor that the x6's still havent out-powered the 965, even then you can OC the 965 to over 4GHz.
i think the 5830 would be a better choice because, as you already mentioned, all the hot air goes out the back of the case and you can also run 3 monitors in EyeFinity off of one card. nvidia doesnt have this capability without SLI and multi monitors are great for productivity when multitasking. the 5830 also has the ability to run in 2D desktop mode even with all three monitors while nvidia cards have to stay in 3D mode hogging power and creating heat

What is your monitor setup?
If it is 2 or less-460 wins hands down. It is MUCH more powerful a 5830-at times even 50%+. It is also not a very hot card. Under load it stays at or below 50ishC-not even close to 105C. And you can get models which exhaust all air outside of case-where were you looking?

If you play intensive games-955-yes, it is same as 965. If you playing WOW and the like then an x6 might be for you.

Iv been looking around newegg to see if i want to buy all seprate parts, or just get a system from ibuypower.com

Thanks for your input, now i have conflicting posts that say the ati is better, and nvidia is the better choice.
any one else have a say?

And thanks for your input UDKP, am sort of leaning twords newegg at the moment because they are having a sale till the 8th ( i think? ) but anyway... i am running 2 monitors at the moment, if i were to ge the ati, i would be tempted to get a third. ( eyfinity allows 3 on 1 card? ) and as of now, i play WoW, Age of conan, All points bulletin, Global agenda, secondlife ( though REQ's for that game varies majorly )COD MW2, - and plan to play more games when they come around if they catch my interest..

Get a 955 oc the heck out of it. Make sure you have a good after market cooling for your cpu. Get a good gpu, like a 5870 (1gb), no need for 2 gb. ATI will run cooler and requires less power than an nVida. Please get a good psu, most recommended is Corsair. Give us a budget, and we figure out what you can buy.

budget is important. If you have lots of money a 5870 is probably a better idea. Plus, a 5850/30 will struggle do to 3 high-res monitors. Even with a 5870 you will have to turn the details down.

It is not an ATI Vs. Nvidia thing. It goes by price range and per card. Both ATI and Nvidia have good and bad cards for their price points.

i would "like" around 6-8gigs of ram.
i would "like" a nice card, preferably keeping in the price range of the 5830.
i would "like" a HAF mid-tower case.
i would "like" the small corsair liquid cooling unit for my CPU ( to keep it cool for over-clocking, and its warm around where i live. )
those are my "main" concerns.
