I've been building AMD systems for the past many years for myself and for a while, I've considered building a intel system but the price shock for cpu's have always scared me off but I don't know would be an Intel upgrade from what I have now in AMD, that won't brake the bank.

I'm sure any one could build a better intel system then my current AMD system but what I want to figure out is if I could build a intel system that's better but ALSO cost around the same amount or some what close to anyways, here is my current system,

Mainboard : ASRock 990FX Extreme3
CPU: 8350 FX 8x 4.0
Physical Memory : 8192MBDDR3-SDRAM
Video Card : AMD Radeon HD 6950

What I'm wondering what Intel CPUs are as good for gaming and rendering in 3D model programs around the same price and what Intel cpu's would do noticly better at rendering/gaming.

Also, what Nvidia video cards are as good if not better then the 6950 I currently have.

Sorry about the messy way I went to ask my questions.

What is the intel equivalent/noticable upgrade around the same cost of my AMD 8350-FX 8x 4.0ghz

ASRock 990FX Extreme3 CPU: Phenom II X4 945e 3.0 Ram:(2 x 4GB DDR3 ) GPU : HIS 2GB 6950 PSU: Corsair 850w

i would go for the 3770K and a Z77 motherboard. me personally i like the Asrock Z77 Extreme6 and the Z77 MSI GD65 Gaming board. Haswell is not that impressive and dont overclock well. They get very hot very quickly so i would skip the 4670K and 4770k. if you live near a MicroCenter you can get the 3770k with $40 off your motherboard of choice. just make sure you have good cooling as the 3770k can get a bit hot when overclock kinda high but not as bad like the 4770k.

MSI Z77 GD65 Gaming Series Asrock Z77-Extreme6 Intel-Core-i7-3770K-Processor

You dont know me but that's the way i like it!

Well I shop online for all my computer parts, is it possible to get a intel cpu thats as good if not noticeably better then my current AMD cpu and not spend more then $200 to $250 or am I stuck with a $300 plus price tag for a good Intel CPU?

Once you have come to the dark side you will never return.

Intel is fast, but you will pay for that speed.

well for that price you can get a 3570k but i would suggest you stretch a little for the 3770k. if you live near a MicroCenter you can get the 3770k for $250
