Hi All
Over the past month ive be have a problem with my computer. Ive got a Asus Crosshair II Formula motherboard and a xfx 850w Psu. When I flip the power strip on the back of the Psu so from 0 to l it takes around 5 minuites for the ROG logo to light up, and then turn on my computer. During the 5 mins the ROG logo flashes on and off until theres enough power going to it. Hope someone can help
Thanks
did you make sure your 24 pin wires in all all the way? they can come loose
Thanks for your reply, unfortunately yes I have checked all wires are seated properly
It sounds to me like the power protection portion of your PSU is failing to charge correctly, and it will not supply proper power to the motherboard during a "fail state" during warmup. Flashing LEDs are an indication of this, and this typically is a capacitor that is seeing early failure. It fails to hold a charge, triggering the "ground fault" protection, but over several minutes it "warms up" and holds the charge to allow function. You will likely see total PSU failure in the near future, and it would be wise to replace it before it (potentially) takes out your mainboard during it's death throws.
If your PSU warranty is still intact, it will be a good idea to send in an RMA.
Thanks you very much for your advice, sadly its an old psu and have had it for many years so its now out of warranty.
Time for a new PSU :(
